How much oil should be in the valvecover

Hi guys, hoping I can get some help/comments on this

I opened the oil cap while the car was running, and the amount of oil seemed too little to me. I can see the camshafts have a thin layer of oil, but I expected more oil to be collected on top of the head. At least from what I've seen on my other DOHC vehicles.

Anyone have pictures/videos of their Evo with the oil cap removed? Or if you have the time to record one?

-oil dipstick level is at full
-stock low milage Evo 8
-AMSOil z-rod 10w30
-car was fully warmed up
-no weird noises
-no CEL/oil light
-car runs fine

Thanks!

Its hard to see much looking down through the filler cap opening. Also clean oil would be less visible. My engine run with the filler cap off, flings out oil, a small but constant amount at idle, and spots the engine exterior with oil droplets.

Oil for the cam lobes, valves and followers is ejected from the lash adjusters when compressed by the cam lobes. So, I'd expect an oiling issue to create valve noise due to a lack of pressurization in the lash adjusters.

Oil really shouldn't visibly pool in the head. There are a few places it collects, but our heads have decent drainage. A small amount of oil will splash out of the filler cap opening, The oil that is ejected from the lifter supply galleys is only at about 15-20psi which provides the splash oiling for the cam lobes, so, you're not going to see a whole lot of oil flying everywhere, especially at idle.

Also, there's no noises. Send it.
