Tial QR BOV goes off often at 4000rpm

I have a 08 Evo X. I have ams downpipe, MAP test tube, Grimmspeed boost controller, and dyno tuned.
I have a question im new to the turbo world. my 50/50 BOV goes off when i shift into at 5800rpm into 5 gear im at 4200rpm, 12lbs boost, im at 75mph and want to go to 80mph, and when i tap the gas pedal to gain speed it dumps my boost. why is that?

Is it a 50/50 BOV or a Tial QR? If it is a Tial QR, you need to put a 6psi spring in it.

Your mechanic is wrong. He's probably looking at the TiAL spring chart thats on their website. I can assure you (as I have a QR with a 6psi spring on my X) that the 6psi is what you need. And the TiAL is meant to be a completely recirculated.

Yup, I've got 6-7 Evo X's running around with the Tial QR and 6psi. Works like a charm. Handles all the boost too.

They must have a strange way of rating their springs?

They rate them on how much vacuum you pull at idle. They don't rely on the spring to keep it seated under boost, but rather enough vacuum to unseat them. Too little and they sit open at idle, too much and they flutter like crazy.

I also thought it was odd at first. I run the 8psi with no issues.
