Few problems on Evo 9..New to the community

Sometimes I would miss a gear and over rev the engine and a slight burning smell would appear is that normal? Also, the oil temperature gauge goes all the way up the 300F (Max) every time i start it up is this just a wiring problem? If anyone is around Orange County area are there any good detailers?? Big thanks my dudes!!

Does your oil temp gauge go to max if you just turn on (without starting) your engine? If it does the same thing, then that's part of it's display during startup. I've never mis shifted so I don't know about oil smell but you run into real potential for valve float. How many times have you done this? It sounds like you do this often

I am used to the Evo shifting feel now so I haven't missed shift since so that smell never hit me again but the oil temperature gauge only goes up all the way after I start the car (even when its a cold start). Also another question i have is that sometimes after i hit boost and shift to neutral the rpm drops below 1000 and comes back up and sometimes it does that repeatedly is that a serious thing or just evo things.

You may be able to achieve better shifting if you remove the restrictor pill from the clutch slave cylinder, this is supposed to result in a more consistent clutch release.

In neutral, engine stumbling under 1000 rpm should be normal since ecu is adjusting. As for your oil temp gauge, does it max out every time you start your engine? Even if you turn it off and start 15 seconds later? I think it is part of the boot up display to make it look cool.

I drove a 2014 mazda3 manual for 6 months prior to buying the GSR. I am used to it now so now my question is just the rpm dropping to around 700 ish and going up to 1200 repeatedly and my oil temp gauge maxing out LITERALLY every time i start up the car

Then gauge is only going through its start up cycle. As for RPM, if it keeps going up to 1200 and dropping to 700 constantly, you have something wrong. It shouldn't be that much. My car has S2 cams and it bounces up and down by about 100 RPM at idle.

Who was your tuner? I had Rick and Sam tune my car and I like Sam better. He explained his tunes and is much more responsive to my questions.

The oil temp gauge is an easy fix. There's a break in the circuit that needs to be located and repaired. The idle hunting when you push the clutch in and coast is fixed by properly adjusting your BISS and idle stepper lookup table.

You're probably low on freon. Every car has this problem sooner or later.
