td05hr-16gb-10.5t. vs. td05hr-06-16gb-10.5t

Hi
I have an evo 6.

I just took out a turbo td05hr-16gb-10.5t. which I assumed was a standard evo 6 turbo.

I replaced it with what I think is a standard evo 9 turbo . td05hr-06-16gb-10.5t

I seem to have less power now for some reason. The waste gate on the evo 6 turbo said HKS on it and on the new turbo was just standard without markings

Did I stupidly replace the turbo with a less-good one?

Thanks

I understood there are 2 different evo 9 turbos. Mine says 06. Stamped. td05hr-06-16gb-10.5t

Can anyone confirm what is td05hr-06-16gb-10.5t. ? I thought this was the second evo 9 turbo (ie 2006)

I'm pretty sure, but don't quote me, EVO 9 Turbos are 20G's....

Could be wrong though

Edit: I stand corrected, you sir have an EVO 8 Turbo. Its the "C" Marking after the 16G

SMH, I dont know why I always thought 9's came stock with 20'g. Ive always had an 8, until I upgraded years ago to a 20G, so feeling ignorant at the moment...

THe 9 Turbo has a C in the TD05HR-06-16GB"C"-10.5T, Both of your part numbers are 8 Turbos, not 9's

Look at Snail's post, his picture is of a 9 Turbo, and has the "C" marking in the cast...

On your waste gate, one being HKS brand, and the other being in theory the Mitsubishi brand, the HKS probably is sprung differently. Throw the HKS on this new turbo, and run a test changing nothing else, and let us know.

All evo 8/9 turbos are 16g in the united states. I'm sure they are too in other countries except for the FQ series. The differences are 03/04 evos came with a 16g and a 9.8 hotside, the 05 gsr/mr came with a 16g and a 10.5 hotside instead of a 9.8 hotside. The evo 9 turbo is also a 16g with a 10.5 hotside but the compressor cover is much larger than the 8 turbos. The compressor and turbine wheels are identical in the 8/9 turbos. Not too long ago I converted an evo 9 turbo to a 20g, check the difference between the stock compressor 16g wheel and the billet 20g wheel.

The supplier says..

we ordered these turbos direct from Mitsubishi for the Evo 9.

So i´m really sure this turbo are original Mitsubishi turbos.

I think, the difference between the numbers are,

first is for Mitsubishi Car dealer and Garage und second number is only for big performance dealer.

It is the same turbo

Does this sound right?
