Sorry, I'm late to this party. If you think it's a lifter, I would have suggested that you bleed each lifter and then pump them up submerged under oil in a container. Then press as hard as you can outside of oil container to see if they leak. Just be careful not to let it pop off at anyone. I wonder if a few are leaking.
Remember to bleed again before installing in your head.

check out the lash adjuster check section of the fsm stuff i posted. Some tapping noise is normal, usually when the engine has sat for a while or its cold. I think the FSM has a good way of having your figure out what is ok noise and what is not.

Pictures of valve train and video of noise will help

I've read the diesel fuel thing but don't install them full because I don't like the idea of valves being held down.
filling them with oil out diesel to test them is a good idea, as mentioned above. When I tested my OEM lifters ,back in the day, I found two that didn't hold pressure.
my tapping goes away with RPM, so I just let it do.It's thing.

  1. Just to give you an idea of the pressure a lifter sees. Let's start with the valve spring pressure rate. GSC5041 intake spring exerts 250 pounds when compressed (to open valve). Given that the roller bearing sits closer to lifter to give a 1.7:1 ratio (I read 1.72, but I'll keep it simple here), that means the lifter has to hold more than 425 pounds to force spring to compress. And if you're curious on the pressure exerted by cam lobe for this valve, it's 675 pounds. Fortunately, only 1 pair of valves is open every 90° rotation, so all the cam caps will always see 540 - 1,350 pounds (they see 540 pounds at rest and 1,350 pounds when a pair of valves are fully open).

Sorry for getting off track. The noise you're hearing when lifters are leaking are the valve bottoms hitting the valve seats in head (diesel engine noise). The cam lobes actually have a landing curvature (I don't know the correct term) to slow the valves down before closing on valve seats. Since lifters are not holding the rockers on the cam lobe, the springs are forcing the valves to slam shut. The can't be good long term even if not racing your engine.

I bled all the lifters with diesel until not one could compress, then I took out the diesel from the lifters and put them in dry.

started the engine let it idle for 30 seconds and then revved up to 3000 rpm ,did this procedure about 10 times, went for a 30 min drive but the lifter tick is still there.
Did i do something wrong or the lifters are just bad?
btw I have gsc s2 cams and gsc beehive springs, I also have a kiggly HLA installed.
I'll post a video today of the noise.

Run a quick search and you'll see pretty much all Evos tick. It's part of the car's "charm", I guess

nobody here has enough information to diagnose your car, so if you don't know your engine is all good, don't go wot.

Ticking could have been due to a lack of oil pressure. If that's the case then the two problems are related.
