So I noticed there is a leak between transfercase and transmission. I didnt notice anything after the first 800 miles after the initial fluid change since they were rebuilt. I did put a dab of oil on the small o ring so it could hold itself in the transfercase and mating it together with the transmission. I noticed also there is a wet spot towards the front of the transfercase that shouldn't have a wet spot since it was all squeaky clean. I was able to get a little light between the transfercase and transmission and I was able to see a shiny oil substance from where the output shaft connects to transfercase but again, very hard to see up in there since there is a hairline crack to see in between.
So I'm thinking o ring or the bigger seal that connects the tranny ams transfercase. Fyi I did not oil the big seal when mating the two together so not sure if it was needed to or not. If it was then maybe it could've gotten damaged when bolting them together, or if im lucky I can try torqueing down the bolts more and maybe thatll be it.
Would a leaking o ring seal cause the oil to leak out in front as well and not just the bottom? I was assuming it would just trickle down and not show two different wet/oil spots.
Also noting I noticed the top of the transfercase has an oily looking substance going straight down the whole middle on top of the transfercase. I'm not sure if this is part of the issue but if it is. I can't imagine it going from up top middle of transfercase, then trickle down towards the driver side where the transmission and xfercase mates.
You may have torn or damaged the large oring that is around the tcase input. Usually the small oring for the fluid transfer port is either there, and doesn't leak, or it's not there/seated wrong and absolutely pisses fluid. You're gonna need to pull the tcase off the trans and inspect things. Good news, you don't need to drain the tcase, just the trans and the tcase doesn't need to come out of the car. Just move it over enough to get a look at the oring.

If the large o ring is the culprit, will there be issues with fluid getting into the transfercase from the transmission? Just asking since if it does, I obviously want to do this sooner than later. If not, I can still drive and refill every once in a while. Fluid seemed pretty topped off in transfercase and transmission. Transmission probably needed like .1 quarts for it to start coming back out of the transmission.
Also does the acd banjo bolt need to come out to get the bolt behind it out?
No, there is a separate seal for that. That seal keeps tcase fluid in the tcase. Which is why you can pull the tcase off the trans without draining the tcase or losing any tcase fluid (as long as you keep the driveshaft in it.. I supposed that could be weaping slightly, and the oring that seals the tcase to the trans could be fine. But you're not risking fluid contamination if one of those seals is bad.
is it dripping?
if not.. id let that ride.
just keep an eye on the fluid level every so often.
then when it finally blows up... fix it then.
I mean it has less than 2000 miles on it, I'm not expecting it to grenade anytime soon. I taped up a ghetto oil catcher right below it to see how much it leaks. In one day no puddles or anything, so the leak is pretty minor.
If it was an old beater, I'd say leave it but with what these cars go through and the cost to fix them if one day your TC or Gear box dumps from mixing oils, I've also been under there and pulled the TC a couple of times, so if I was you I'd just get under there and pull it and replace the inner seal and O ring and be done with it. not a massive job if you just get into it one weekend.

Seems like that's what I should do. Guess itll be way easier than dropping the transfercase/transmission. Seems like I should be able to just pull it off the transmission and change the inner seal/o ring without actually dropping the whole transfercase?

You can unbolt and push to the side but it would be a muck around to get up into it. I'd pull it and have a good look and replace seals just on precaution. You need to make a slide hammer to get wheel shaft out. There's threads on how to do the pull floating around but you must take your time and not rush it, fiddly but doable for the garage hero.
