Mysterious white smoke (pics)

Hello,

I have a fully built engine from Whalen's Speed R&D , was running great and made 800hp , decided to go faward face a a new hks head gasket , megnus intake and koyo half radiator.

Upon starting car started going off white smoke, the car was perfectly fine before we took everything apart for the new parts.
The machanic put oil on my headgasket (dont know why) before installing it and the engine was torque to spec.
The smoke was a lot on the 1st day but after 2 days of driving 20 kms or so the smoke has subsided a lot but is still there on acceleration, the mechanic check the engine cylinders which were dry and started the car and there was no white smoke, then took the downpipe off with the turbo in still no smoke but when we attatched the down pipe and exhaust the white smoke comes back...now on cold start there is close to zero smoke or atleast the thickness has gone.

The workshop says it's just oil in the pipe lines and will go away after a few miles of driving.

I dont now what's going on. What can this smoke be...as there was never coolent on my car always water so it cant be burning coolant...but the shop did put oil on my hose gasket for some reason before installing which I have a pic of...maybe that oil burning is what causing the the smoke

Why did he put oil on the head gasket? Oil is non-compressible, which is why it is used in hydraulics so not sure how the head gasket would properly seal. I've always put them in bone dry with the exception of the metal HKS head gaskets for the L28 Zcar motor, which I sprayed copper seal first.

I'm not sure why he did that also...this is the hks metal headgasket which is installed as you can see in the pictures

We torque too 105 lbs altho 100 lbs was needed...so I dont know how sealing of the engine would be effected

The head gasket should be installed 100% dry or with copper seal only. Idk why he oiled it, but I'm betting that needs redone. It would be effected because you now have a layer of oil, which is not a sealant, between the gasket and deck surfaces.

Just wipe down the surfaces of the block and head with some acetone on a lint free rag and you should be good with the fresh dry gasket. The copper spray wouldn't hurt, but if the gasket comes coated then likely not needed. I've re-torqued the H11's 4-5 times.

Out of curiosity, why did you put a new head gasket on a car that was running perfectly?
and +1 for no oil on the gasket and you may want to find a new mechanic.

ah, bummer. But "if it ain't broke..." :P
Doesn't look like that was on any part of the sealing surface, but no way to know that until you looked. Dang, man. On the bright side, at least your mechanic 'fessed up so you know what's wrong. Git 'er done! Good luck, dude.

Not sure I think it's just a shadow from the oil and the angle of the camera
