Any suggestions? Internal snap ring gtx30

I have a gtx3076r that needs the bearing cartridge replaced on it. Unfortunately this car has been an all season daily so most of the headed fasteners resemble chocolate chips not 12 point M8s. Of course there is a giant internal snap ring holding the compressor base on and It ain't budging. I'm a 50yo prototype engineer that has seen his fair share of non cooperative assemblies in his life but this little bastard is stubborn. I have at my access a full tool maker shop so if any of you guys in the know can help suggest on how to approach this I would be greatly appreciative. the options look expensive.

Spray it with lubricant spray, and use a set of snap ring pliers. Might take a little muscle, but I’ve never seen a seized snap ring.

I suspect you are referring to the ring that secures the backplate to the CHRA. That snap ring can be a bit stubborn to close so that you can pull it out, due to corrosion mostly although it is made of high grade steel, but I have never had one that I could not get it out. If it is that difficult to make it move and close, you'll need to cut it, you can find a new one online. If you have a dremel, get it out, put a small cutting wheel on it and cut diagonally while being very careful not to damage the center housing or the back plate. If you do not have a grinding wheel, or you are afraid that you will damage the other parts, put a very small round tungsten grinding stone on it, and grind it down, at the specific point where you have the most clearance, until you'll be able to bend it inwards with a screwdriver.

that was my next move, carbide burr in a die grinder to relieve the spring then try to punch it out.
