Bearings!! ACL race or king PMAX

I'm rebuilding my evo 8 and was wondering what everyone is using for bearings? My engine is fully built (boostin performance) so it has ACL race bearings or did. but I've read Lot about the king pmax and they seem to be the best bearings out there but they are around 100 bucks for a set. I will be buying a std and extra clearance set so all said and done 400 just in bearings. Or half that for ACL. What is everyone's thoughts? What are you running?

It will come down to personal/builders choice, you'll have some say ACL Race and some say King

Is anyone running king pmax? The reason why I looked into them in the first place is because of roni at speedlab inc. (Jrp performance) he seems so meticulous on engine building and uses the right parts.

He's a builder and that's his preference, english racing uses ACL and they set records....

I've had them both...No preference other than what the builder likes to use.(500hp on both builds.)

Yes boostin performance also sets records and uses acl.. on there engines they sell to the public. Do they use them in there race cars?If they use cheaper bearings hence make more profit! Are there any engine builders on this forum that want to chime in?

I guarantee you Boostin doesn't pick ACL to cut costs and increase profit $40.

They're bearings. In the end, your engine isn't going to fail because you didn't run bearing X. Pick a tri-metal/race bearing and put it together. It'll be fine.

Another point is to measure the clearances and get it right.. not just slap it together

Yes. I did order a std set and .001 extra clearance set so I can play with clearances I little. I did finally go with ACL. I do have micrometers and dial bore gauge so I will be measuring.

I had to combine two sets of ACLs for the mains to get the clearence I wanted and on the rods went with the set with a bit less clearence... So, do measure
