Hello everybody.

I've got an Evo 8 and I was just wondering what everybody's average idle coolant temperature is? While I'm moving my car tends to stay around 185 but when I idle it creeps up, sometimes getting hotter than I'd like so I just want to get a feel for what everybody elses cars are doing.

Depends on ambient temp. My car will see 215-220 if it's 115 out and the ac is on and I sit idling for a while, like 15 minutes.

 

Yes, ambient temp is a big factor.

Currently with 40-50* F ambient, i'm seeing 178-183 cruising. If it sits there without any airflow through the radiator, then temps will creep up until the rad fan comes on, just takes a little longer with the cooler air.

On hotter days, average temps for whichever driving scenario will be hotter.
