Rebuilt head lifter tick issue: VIDEO linked

Needing a little help on this one, plus I would like to see if anyone else has experienced this issue I'm having at the moment and what they did to fix it or give me some other avenues to look at which maybe causes this.

Info on car: 2006 Evo 8 Over 110k Without going to deep, Built the bottom end only/Stock head (nothing replaced in head during rebuild),basically a friend ask me to look at his car as it was creating AALOT of blue smoke the instant the car was running and had a pretty bad lifter tick, Pulled the plugs and every cylinder had a good amount of oil sitting on top of the pistons,I instantly thought valve seals he said lets do it. I got the 2 exhaust seals done and I can hear and feel air coming out of the port this tells me something is wrong with the valve etc. I let him know he decides to take the head to a machine shop to have checked out and they confirmed that some valves had issues. At this point the head has been cleaned, resurfaced, has New GSC Zero Tick lifters/ BC Valve springs/Retainers,valves cut all the normal machine shop stuff. Put everything back together I checked all lifters making sure they were all compressible started car and the car still has the TICK not any louder than before build could be slightly quieter as it seems to comes and goes at idle sometimes.

Things I've noticed/tried:
  • Noise level is the same whether Hot or Cold
  • From 1k to 2200 rpm you can hear noise 2500 and up cant hear it anymore
  • I cleaned out the stock HLA Compressed air/Brake cleaner.. While HLA was off I blew some air in holes just to see I didn't have a blockage all was good.
  • Changed Oil with 15W-50 Mobil 1 Full Syn with Wix 57092 filter
  • Checked that all lifters could not be compressed still, which all were solid
  • Oil pressure at idle was 18 to 20 not too sure. Max psi was 80
  • Besides the Ticking car is running like normal
I took a video just haven't uploaded it yet May post it if needed.

Were the lifters bled after being installed? Could it be the injectors opening and closing? I would try to do 10w40 if this keeps up. To me it sounds like the lifters weren't bled and there isn't any oil going into the lifters being oil may be to thick or something. I know my fic 2150s were kinda noisy which made me think of that.

I went through two, brand new sets of GSC lifters until I finally got rid of the tick. They aren't 100%.

As Kaj stated, it's probably the lifters.

I have a set of GSCs and they will go on a tick fest occasionally.

you can also try topline lifters. They care cheaper than the GSC and seems to have less issues.
