Map sensor install jdm evo 8

Hey guys, needs bit of direction and/ help here, I’ve searched through already and just wanted a bit more clarification on this. So a s the title says I have a jdm evo 8 which did not come with a map sensor but my tuner and I want to run speed density. I bought the adapter from extremepsi and am using a Omni 4bar. I’m just wondering where would be the best place on the intake manifold to plumb into that would bit affect the readings on the map sensor. Thank you!

are you on the stock intake manifold or an aftermarket?

plumed somewhere into the plenum without a long vac tube should be fine.

If your manifold doesn't have the OEM map sensor port machined into it there isn't too much reason (Or ability) to use the omni. They are notorious for going bad. You can just use a more traditional map sensor and Tee it into boost line for the fuel pressure regulator (PRE SOLENOID). You will need to alter the wiring harness you have and change the map sensor scaling in your tune to match w/e sensor you choose but that's pretty trivial vs machining your manifold for that sensor.

Hi Guys,

all you need to do is "T" in a vacuum/boost line from one of the lines running off the JDM inlet manifold.
I chose one which sits behind the number 2 and 3 stock inlet runners and connected it to a GM 3bar map sensor which
is wired into the stock 3 pin ECU and is mounted on the firewall.

Pin 42 for 5v
Pin 46 for ground
Pin 92 for signal wire

If you are converting to SD, there is a SD harness which plugs into the MAF plug which connects to the AIT and the MAP to give
the ECU those inputs without hardwiring the MAP directly to the ECU as I did.

hope this helps.

Thanks a lot Anthony, this certainly helps. Got my hands on an AEM 3.5 bar brass map sensor.
Im planning to go the SD route as well hopefully!
