Water/oil heat exchanger?

Moved to the tropics and they said for turbo cars they just get rid of the air to air oil coolers and use oil to coolant coolers. Has anyone done this with evos?

I don't think thats needed . It can go south if it leaks internally.

The Evo has a strong cooling system and even the OEM oil cooler will keep temps in check. Even on a road course for a bit. Oil temp typically follows water temps. You can also put a fan on the oil cooler.

I would gather some data on your own car before going down an even more complicated road.

Thats what the fastest subie here runs they tried dual oil coolers with ducts and it just chokes cooling for water.
Think they said they were seeing 246C down to 201C

It's not as simple as just adding a fluid-fluid cooler. You will need a larger radiator as now the oil is adding heat to the water. The cooling system becomes a much more integrated system when adding fluid-fluid heat exchangers and more things need to be considered.

Could you clarify those temps because 246C vs 201C doesn't really matter as either would equal a blown engine. If those numbers are Fahrenheit that would seem reasonable. But 200c is 390F...

As for dual oil coolers mucking up air flow on the Subaru, our cars have space for side mounted oil coolers that don't effect the radiator.

Stock r35's here overheat in 3 laps. I am wondering if anyone has moved the radiator in front to eliminate the fmic and put an air to water IC behind the rad as well as a water cooler for oil.
Yes my mistake that was F
I am just unhappy with the oem wheel well placement makes me think that if there is any contact i've got oil on my front tire....

They over heat here too. You're not dealing with anything special.

I've learnt more about the oil system this week.
The OEM oil thermostat will blow open the check valve at around 12psi differential pressure across the oil cooler (once the oil is hot).
Using thick oils (with more pressure loss) will make this worse.
Running a Tomei Thermostat killer will force full oil flow to the oil cooler at all times, this will likely help in your hot climates.

I will be trying the OEM thermostat with a heavier spring on the end of it soon.
