Evo 5/6 Engine Mounts
Evo 5/6 Engine Mounts
Unfortunately it's no longer possible to get hold of a full set of OEM engine mounts for the 5 and 6. Anyone out there have a recommendation for engine mounts that would be acceptable for a street car? The Evo specialist shop I'm familiar with cautioned me to stay away from the aftermarket set made by Cusco which is unfortunately one of the only ones I'm familiar with. The only other option seems to be Powerflex street-type poly bushes, but I don't think they have one for the 5/6 that fits the rear roll stop (lower mount).
4/8/9 owners feel free to chime in with brand recs even if you're not sure if they have anything available for the 5/6.

Which ones are you speaking of? I just installed new OEM's for the north/south bar. The side mounts are original...not sure they do much from a performance perspective. I purchased from Amayama.
The rear roll stop (mount on the north/south bar) as well as the engine side upper mount are listed as discontinued for me on Amayama. I've searched for either of them on other sites but haven't had any luck.

Here's an option for trans mount and front mount.

Ended up going with the Powerflex bushings. For posterity's sake, there is a rear roll stop replacement available from Powerflex, for some reason it's called a "Front Lower Diff Mount" on their website. For an Evo 5 or 6, you want Powerflex parts numbers PFF44-105 (2x, one each for the engine and transmission mounts), PFF44-106 (for the front roll stop), and PFF44-107 (for the rear roll stop). The PFF44-108 is for the rear roll stop in the 5/6 RS only.
The roll stops should be easy and from what I've read the engine-side mount is pretty easy as well, but does anyone have any instructions for the transmission-side upper mount? I haven't been able to find a video guide and the only guide I've read talked about not being able to get it off the studs. I think I've also read that folks pulled the studs to get it off? If anyone has a good method please post. I'll try to remember to take pictures so I can post a thread in the How-To forum.
I went with the 70A hardness bushings and plan to replace all four, so I'll report results here in terms of NVH. I unfortunately have no choice as the rear roll stop is no longer made and both my roll stops are worn as ****.

How did it go for you? I'm in the same situation.

The Powerflex bushings are good, I'd recommend them. You will feel them at idle but not strongly enough for them to cause headaches (for example your keys will not be rattling in the steering column as you would experience with hard mounts).
As for install, the roll stops are indeed very easy, you just unbolt the front member, remove the old roll stops, press out the bushings and put the new ones in by hand. For the upper mounts, they are a bit tricky but here's a video that shows you the process:
It's in Japanese but you can visually see how he raises and lowers the engine to get the mounts off.
You will need a hydraulic press to press out the old bushings from the mounts. I had access to a 25 ton and they still put up a fight.
