I've been trying to learn about water injection. Read alot of stuff on the web. The Aquamist 2d systems seems like what I'm looking for.
Anybody else useing?

I'm going to go WI with utec to trigger the water.
I hope someone who has WI will let us know what he thinks.
But in theory it should be great for the evo. Leaning out the fuel has got to be good as long as there is no detonation.

Great idea mate. Over the past few months there have been many threads on this. Do a search and find some good discussions that have been had. To the guys saying use alky or propane, please do the same. I thought propane was a gas anyway? Your better sticking to water (cheaper, safer, easier) and I am quoting from someone “its like running race gas all the time”.

Hi guys.. I’m new to the forum and let me say that you guys have amazing info here . The IW sounds very interesting…My question is does it work with the Ralliart ECU? And is it an easy to install devise. Thanks

I tap the WI tank from the wiper fluid tank
you have a 1.5 gal capacity there

you need to log the timing to see where the ecu pulls timing to decide when and how much to spray .. otherwise you don't really make much power over standard ..

I believe Aquamist has a WI system that links up with your computer. Check out their web site and the WI board. I am sure Richard L will know the answer.

I have figured out that you need to be able to adjust your fuel(lean it out to around 12.5:1) and advance your timing to get full advantage.
I've found that timing is the key to HP.
In the heat of the day, I'm only getting 10 deg advance at redline, compared to the cool morning, when I get as high as 15 deg. It's also very noticeable by my ***-dyno.
I want to be able to have full timing advance all the time.

Make sure you keep an eye on your egt's if you do challenge timing.

right on use whatever you guys like, but from what i have witnessed, i'll take propane over water anyday.... and alky has been used for a while with the domestic market for the old GNX motors. I've seen VR4's run and hold 20psi on stock injectors and rewired pump (350cc). Only downside to propane is accidents... There is alot of information out there... especially on the vr4/stealth forums and the Grand Nation forums...

Here check these guys out, they know their $#!t http://www.dynamicracing.com/custome...&cat=34&page=1 plus they are hella cool to talk to

Bishiboy, sounds like we are headed in the same direction.
From what I can see the utec will pull timing when it hears knock. Which means there should not be a problem if you run out of water.
Right now, one thing holding me back is the tuner situation. Utec tuners are rare enough, mixing in water only thins the population more. As much as I like the idea of tuning it myself it would be nice to have a guru the first run through.

water injection is not the end all for power, in my case I want to lean out the fuel some. The net effect of water injection is supposed to be the same as running higher octane gas. So you can control knock without pulling timing or dumping fuel. If you can keep the timing up and not dump fuel you have made more power. The best afr for power is in the mid 12s, the evo is way below that.
So why, the car pulls great, on a twisty track you can't use any more power anyway. At the last trak day it was damp, the rear of the car was peppered with soot. That's telling me I'm using gasoline to cool my engine Not power it. Water just seems to make more sense.

Bishiboy .. you sure you running that little advance at redline (7500rpms )?!?!?!?!

My log is 10-12 (80+ temp) deg timing from 4500rpms to around 6000rpms (hi 90s temp it drops to around 6-8) and past 6000rpms it advances from 15 deg to around 22 deg at redline ..

QWKEVO is right about using alky's ... but it's not propane it's either ethanol or methanol or 'propanol'
Methanol is too corrosive for daily use .. while ethanol is the best compromise .. both in increasing octane and in cooling the charge air .. 50/50 mix is probably the best bet ..

Nothere .. you're along the right track .. good luck !! Do consider ethanol / water mix !!

Editted to add : oops .. mine is JDM and the AVG ron/mon gas here is 93-94
