And why is that so...?

Seems to me it will be manufactured as soon as they get some samples.

this along with its torsional properties (steel shaft twists about 5 degrees, this twists 19-20 degrees) will save the output shaft from the harmful shock factor that breaks the shaft
Interesting. How much difference does knocking off 10lb from your driveshaft make?

I can't remember exactly, but I think it was every one pound of rotational mass reduced you get back 2hp. So (if I remembered that right) you would get back 20hp. Remember this isn't additional hp, it is just not wasted anymore turning your driveshaft.

I wouldnt go as far as to say 20hp, but it does have a similar effect as a lightweight flywheel. An old college buddy of mine put one on his Miata a few years back and it definitly revved quicker. I am also 99% sure that he got it at the driveshaftshop too...I'll ask him, but if its the same palce, they make quality stuff.

Hey....guess the aim for those kits ain`t for power gain so to speak,BUT i f you have the power already and you snap you`r shafts then you might be looking for those guys,be aware of you`r AYC´s and diffs though.

Edit: spelling

It's not only about shaving off some weight. The AL will twist a little and saok up some of the shock loads we are experiencing on hard drag launches. I'm the one who has been talking with Driveshaft shop and they have a set of our axles and a driveshaft to prototype. The goal here is to reduce transfer case breakage, by allowing the driveshaft to take up some of the initial shock load during a launch.

I know it will help some of the guys in the UK. they always seem to be distroying thier rear diffs, so if the shaft can take a bit of the strain then that can only help. wonder how much wbhp the thing can take????

Chris.

I just got a reply from driveshaftshop.com. They said they are just about finished making axles for the EVO and will start on the drive shaft very soon. I will be one of the first to buy one of these, I will post my opinions when I get it installed...

I'm also working with a company on a CF driveshaft. The problem with the EVO8 driveshafts is the yokes and the CV joints. With the DS angle we can't do a single piece DS so it must be at least two pieces. Custom yokes and hangers might have to be made. I'll keep everyone updated on progress.
