Ok, am I missing something here?
...why run cams w/out adjustable cam gears? Just out of curiosity, how are those 272's idling?

...why run cams w/out adjustable cam gears? Just out of curiosity, how are those 272's idling?

Simple, just don't believe everything you read on the Internet, even what I am typing now, just some more information to form an opinion on. Some shops swear up and down on cam gears and say that they are a must to idle perfectly, others, like my shop, Tested gears for hours on the Dyno with MANY settings and saw no added benefit; maybe 3WHP and that may be just different variances. Turbo Trixx Has a customers Evo running
hks 272
Stock intercooler
Buschur upper ic pipes
660 CC injectors
Fuel pump
Boost controler ( hallman )
K&N airfilter
Buschur 3" turbo back
, made 404WHP, ran 11.7, Does not get much better then this for the stock turbo.

My shop also has by FAR the best customer service, IMHO. I showed up @ 12:50PM, car was on the dyno @ 1:00PM, and was DONE @ 1:20. Charge? Free, turns out my car reverted back to his limp mode, probably because of my SH.ITY Joe P MBC blowing apart, timing was yanked to single digits. 20 Mins later “Here you go, car was down 40WHP, got it back, also tweaked the idle a lil' more, that’s all.” I also make WHP straight up to 8000 RPM's, no fall off, you gota let your car breath, which is what the 272's do, I see no reason to close off the overlap if you can get and idle, and this is what cam gears do. HKS cams are REALLY streetable cams, 272 or 264, they were designed to drop right in without major disturbances. Now HIGH LIFT cams require Springs and such, HKS have minor lift, just larger overlap.

Done, all business and reflashed in 20 Mins, I am happy.

I have 272's and a Dyno Flash, idle perfectly, turn on the A/C-lights and radio-idle perfectly.

Broke all 4 wheels lose coming home from the dyno today, I was missing 40WHP, not bad, turns out I ran a 12.8 @ 108 with 290WHP, who knows what I'll run with 330-340.

ALL DYNOS IMHO read low, as well think about it, you tune in 3rd gear, you car expects winds and airflow of 60-100MPH, there is not, I have a K-Mart fan in danger of being trampled by a dwarf blowing ever so slightly on my IC. I bet you miss ATLEAST 10WHP because of it, and this is why it is argued the Road Dyno is the best.

I have recently read an article in a Euro Tuner Mag, so shop built a SC M5, claimed 600HP, they put that Bad boy on the Dyno and made only 350WHP, this is a SC V8 mind you. These guys went out and spend$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and purchased an industrial fan that looks VERY similar to a jet engine that can in fact send a room sized blast of air @ a steady 70MPH, hooked that ***** up, booo ya, damn near 500WHP, right where it should be.

Turned out the car saw and KNEW that it wasn't getting the cool air, and pulled back timing and added MASSIVE fuel, which is what my car was doing.

I will post Dyno run soon......

Ok, here is my Dyno Sheet. Wish It was a little higher but the car feels GREAT and moves way faster. With 40 Less WHP I ran a 12.8 @ 108 MPH, so I am hoping for a 112 trap, which is right where I should be.

AND IF SOMEONE CAN PLEASE RESIZE THESE PICS, THANKS!!!

This was a roll on from about 3500, Mark didn't do a full pull, but the bottem end was perfect, just the top that was giving me SH.IT.
