Broken synchro fixed under warranty
I was reading the July issue of Automobile magazine, where they did a twelve-month test on an Evo.
To quote directly from the article, "We [Automobile mag] detected a grinding noise in the gearbox when shifting into fifth gear, so the synchro was replaced under warranty..."
The author openly admitted that the editors have have driven the car hard, both on the road and on the track. Under these circumstances, if Mitsubishi fixed their synchro, they ought to fix ours.

They had to do that. If they acted cheap about a warranty to a nationally read magazine dedicated to cars, they would look like a joke. That would be terrible publicity. With individual buyers, they usually don't have the means, or resources to make a big enough of a stink about it to matter so they can be jerks, in some cases.

This is a TRUE situation.. anyone with a 5th gear grind can get it fixed under warranty, there is a TSB with related upgraded parts, Syncrho, selector, bearing, and a few other misc parts.. do a search..

Sorry to bump the thread but it took me forever to find this and I am sure others would like it also. I am currently fighting with Mitsubishi over a said 'one time courtesy' repair a year ago with 2nd gear and now am having an issue with 3rd they dont want anything to do with!
