info with cams

im planning on putting hks 264in/ex cams in and was wondering what all is needed to do this. do i need to buy new valves and springs or will stock work fine. also what about cam gears i hear they are to help dial the cams in but are they nessecary? im wanting good power all through the rpm range but need a good idle close to stock, (i have a baby). any kind of help will do, preferably with people who have the same setup as im wanting. thanx to any!

I put the cam gears in and they are good for 15 hp on the dyno. I would also put on a new t belt.

I have those cams.
With the HKS the rest of the stock valve train is OK.

For the HKS you just have to have the cams. HKS does recommend that you put in stronger springs, but a lot of guys that have run these are doing just fine with their stockers. I believe cam gears will help maximize the amount of power that you can get from your engine, yet are not that important. Instead of going with the 264/264, I would choose the 264/272 because it's just a better compromise. Just get someone who can tune that sucker and you should not have any issues with idling.
