Weird sounds after installing clutch?

I just got the Road Race "no name" Clutch installed on my car. Is it normal to have some weird sounds comming from the car when your letting off first gear? Is it normal to have break in sounds? It sounds like its some rubber like material or rubbing sound.

if it's a twin plate clutch it's just the plates "rattling" against each other, but this should only happen when the pedal is pressed and the clutch is disengaged

I just went back into my car to try it again, it only makes the sound when its rolling in first gear (only first gear) with the clutch pushed in.

when changing the clutch you should also put in a new fly..otherwise you could end up with wear very quickly, a new thrust bearing is also a good idea.

I have an alcon six paddle, and it makes all sorts of screaching and rumbling is you dont get off it quick...awsemome to launch though

The sound is most likely from torsional vibrations that rattle the transmission gears because the new clutch has a different center section that doesn't dampen the vibrations as well as the stock disc. It's only noise and no damage should come from it.

I had all kinds of noises with my new clutch... it's a 6-puck composite... mostly disappeared after about 2-300 miles. A lot of it is probably break-in. Also, it took me a while to get used to the quick engagement, which I think accounted for a lot of the noise (rough starts, etc.). Give it some time to wear in, and if you can, find someone near you who's changed out their clutch and have them listen to see if it's something they had too.

Ya, my friend's evo is in the shop right now getting the same exact clutch put in his car. So when his comes out ill listen for it, but if he doesnt have the sound then I guess ill take it as just a sound and nothing more.
