Random Misfire 0300: Dealership reflash available...

On Friday afternoon, in the Mitsubishi headquarters weekly corporate communication to dealerships, it was apparently announced that a reflash is now available to cure the 0300 Random Misfire problem.

I just dropped my car off at the local dealership. The service rep confirmed that the reflash is available. So by noon today, my problem 0300 random misfire will be gone....I hope. But I would take this message with a grain of salt. I would if I were you. The skeptic in me will refuse to believe they have this problem licked until I experience the solution for myself.

UPDATE: Since originally writing this, I have updated info. The reflash is really available. Dealerships do have this new program available for downloading to your car. So if you are having problems with the 0300 Random Misfire, call your dealership to get the new program.

Arg. Well neither Capitol Mitsu nor Stevens Creek Mitsu have any idea what the hell I am talking about. They know about the problems but they don't know about any reflash!!

Sigh.

Tell them to check their corporate communications from friday.

This is HB Mitsubishi I am dealing with. They have been very well informed about Evo related things in the past.

And they are only about 5 minutes from MMNA Corporate headquarters in Cypress. So maybe news travels shorter distances more quickly?

Well, either way, I'll know in an hour or two if they are for real about this fix. If it is real, I'll get specific info so you know what to ask for when you deal with your dealership.

You know how they are... if they don't already know, "it could be up to a week before we hear about it" or something of that nature.

Christ I am going to get on the horn with these people this afternoon when I am more coherent.

I doubt it is dude, you know dealerships are just on the whole stupid as hell when it comes to these things. The information flow from corporate to franchises is just not good at all. Only dealerships who actually give a **** will know what is up within the first few days...

It is for real, guys. I just got back from the dealership and my receipt notes that my car underwent PCM reprogramming.

Here is the billing code for those who's dealerships are behind on the news

Billing code = 13850113 PCM Reprogramming

22 miles and no check engine lights...

It's a malfunction a portion of the Evo owners have been experiencing. It shows it's ugly head most commonly when applying light throttle in 4th or 5th gear at about 3500rpms. The symptoms of this problem include engine stuttering, inability to properly accelerate at light throttle angles and the appearance of the check engine light.

The reflash is free if you are under warranty.
