I recieved mine yesterday, not only do you get the header, and mounting hardware..... you also get the exhaust manifold gasket, and turbo gasket! I was figuring I would have to make a trip to the Mitsu dealership before putting it on, but now I don't have too! For $310 shipped I did not expect to get the gaskets also

2k4Evo I'm confused, are you running the ATP kit with GT35 and cast manifold, or did you swap out the stock manifold for the stainless headers? If so, how is the fitment with the GT35? Does the ATP downpipe and divorced wastegate line up without any fitment issues?

Got mine earlier this week. Looks pretty good . I'm looking for a place in Texas to get the inside (only) ceramic coated before I install it.

I installed mine. Just a word of warning, when you go to install yours remove the plastic section of the cam angle sensor that sticks out the front. Taking out that one 10mm bolt and removing the sensor would have saved me $60 to replace it after I snapped it off when pulling out the stock exhaust manifold.

Later,

Keith

Sorry for the smile, I hate hard learned lessons. I've pulled a manifold (and head for that matter) off an Evo, and saw where the extra attention around the issue was required. My school of hard knocks came from pulling and rebuilding the VR4 and Nissan's TT 300ZX engines.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm waiting to get the ceramic coating done though. It seems no one wants to cooperate and just coat the inside of the manifold for me. Almost all of the big names will do just the outside, or "both" (inside and outside)... but no one will do just the inside. I find this somewhat suspect though. I've inquired as to how they are able to prepare the inside of the tubes in order for the ceramic material to properly adhere to the surface (the most common method is blasting the surface with aluminum oxide). They all had a lot to say right up to that question... have not heard from any of them since. The tight radius' of the tubes would make it very difficult to do... even with "special tooling". Coming from my aerospace days, it can be done, just at what cost.

How are you managing heat? Are you having any heat related problems?

Why not just wrap them? Not much on the eyes, but should be very effective.

For the long run, I dont want to keep heat in the steel, but out of it.

I ended up leaving the studs in and using the stock nuts on them. I really didn't want to snap off a stud just before the shoot out and that was the direction I was headed If I don't go with a full turbo upgrade I will be getting the larger exhaust housing that is available..... not sure what route I am going yet.

Hell, I'm old and slow... I haven't even boxed it up to send out to be coated. I gave up on just getting the inside coated as no one wanted to be responsible for the exterior finish. Only Swain Tech would do that, and at almost what I paid for the manifold its self. Looks like I'll be going with www.performancecoatings.com using their 2000 degree Satin Titanium coating inside and out. Not what I wanted, but what I'll settling for...

Hey Zeus (spelled right ) have you gotten your header back and if so what do you think? I am looking at the exact same combo, the new 10.5 turbo from FP and the manifold so I am pretty curious to see what you think.

Sorry... I plan on sending it out Mon. or Tues. I've had no time to myself. I will say based on peoples experiences with coated OE manifolds, and these uncoated, that results should be pretty good combining the two. If you are going to have yours (manifold) coated, go ahead and send in your turbo turbine housing, O2 housing, and if you can afford it down pipe also. If cash is tight... at least try to have the manifold and turbine housing coated. I saw significant results on the VR4 I was involved in.

Which ever company you decide to go with... absolutely use nothing but their 2000 degree ceramic coatings from the O2 up.

If you do not mind, who are you using (I may use them too as I am in Dallas), what are you having coated, and how much are they charging? I have a RnR O2 eliminator DP so I could kill two birds with one stone there, but I have already thought about coating the manifold, had not even considered the turbo housing, thanks. Let us know how it all turns out and what your impressions are, it will be at least 2 and probably 3-4 weeks before I am able to get everything here, assembled and running. By the way, did you get the O2 houseing with your turbo when you bought it? I think thatthey are including it with the manifold now.
