nitrous?

What's up everyone. I have some questions about nitrous. How many shot is a good safe setup for the evo, what is the best company to buy a system from, and if used and set up correctly how much danger is there to the engine? If you did have engine problems due to the nitrous what type of failure could be expected? I would not even be thinking of spray, but my buddy has a mustang mach 1 which I used to destroy until he added 150 shot. He beats his car bad and has had no problems due to the spray, so now I'm curious. Thanks to everyone in advance for your help.

I believe the rule of thumb is max half horsepower. And if done incorrectly you can blow the motor. NAAAAWS!!!!!

general rule is 40-50% 75 shot is what I am going with but I will probably up it to 100-125 after head studs, connecting rod bolt etc.... I really think 100 will be fine but I dont want to chance anything... Oh ya do NOT squeeze off the line we dont need any more "Iblew my transfercase" stories I would go with the NX wet Kit I have the remote bottle opener and bottle heater too...

make sure it is a wet kit. NX express is my brand of choice. A 35 shot is plenty, but 75 should make wonders. Nitrous eventually likes to burn out a cylinder, and make sure you dont pop the rev limiter with it. Your friend with the Mach 1 will experience major problems here soon if he doggs it all the time with the NOS( prob the cylinder). Anyways, just use the rule of thumb of JUST BE CAREFUL!!

I ran a 75 shot on my Evo for about a year with no reliability issues. I used a 75 shot wet NX system. Whenever I upped it to 100, I just did not like the way the car felt or sounded.

BTW The 75 shot dropped 1.3 secs off my 1/4.

I am currently running 22 psi and will be testing the car with N2O this week. WE are hoping to put up a big number. My personal best was an 11.881 @ 123.72 . We feel with some new changes and the higher boost, and race gas we can drop it to the low 11's. We will see if our theory is correct this week and weekend. I will be testing the car with the new settings a t a local track this week, running 35, then 50 then 75 as long as all goes well, then off to the shootout.

I will try to remember to post up the slips on Friday before I leave.

Alright so what would work better the Zex wet kit or NX wet kit or are they basically the same just 2 different companies? Also anyone on here use some form of nitrous? I am considering getting a kit, where can I pick one up for the evo for the best price? Mainly looking at it because I am putting in Ultimate-Racings GT35r turbo soon so spoolup will be helped with this.

Tim.

The NX express kit is the only way to go I think. be careful with nitrous, it will eventually burn up a cylinder or melt the head if abused, or like hard core drugs do to a brain. just a 50 to 75 shot would be nice though, and prob not that bad.

Nesiop, there is a thread around here with pics of someone's cylinder head after he melted it with nitrous. So be careful. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=93598
Being in Mass I assume that you'd get the bottle warmer for our colder months?
What shop are you taking it to put the turbo in? Or doing it yourself? Just curious as I need to find a good evo mechanic in the area.

Doing it myself, gonna have my dad give me a hand but it won't be hard, I'm only 19 but hey...I know the basics, hence why I won't tune it, that and I do not have an AF gauge. Heard it is a do it yourselfer job basically. Looked at it. Everything cept the external wastegate is take off and replace. External WG is just bolt onto anyway. Going to Pruven though to get it tuned.

And the nitrous I was referring to the Wet Kit I thought wet won't melt cylinder head like in that guys post.

If not what about Zex?

Also you in Boston or near? I live in Middleboro and have an apartment in Providence.
