Installed MR BOV, nice!

So I received my MR BOV today int he mail and went ahead and installed it. Took about 10 minutes total from removal to closing the hood. The MR valve is MUCH nicer than the stock valve. Im sure you can tell from the pictures. Also when i took out the old valve, i pressed on the plunger with my finger to see if it would open and it opened pretty easy. I tried the same thing witht he MR valve, and it would barely open. So this is a good sign of the stiffness of the spring.

On to the test. WOW what a huge difference this made. I had my boost controller set at 21 psi and it would usually taper to about 18 by redline. SO i was hoping ofr amybe a little improvement. Get on the road do a second gear pull and first thing i notice its only hitting 19 psi. BUT it's hitting 19 psi and its holding 19 psi till i shift at 7500! The stock BOV was leaking so bad that i had to compensate for lost boost by turning up the boost controller! So i get to the gas station and turn the BC knob a little and get it up to about 20 psi. Man this thing holds boost like a freakin ROCK! 20 psi all the way to shift. t's the best $100 i have spent on this car so far. If you've got a stock BOV and a boost controller and it tapers boost th en you probably need this MR BOV. I am completely amazed how much of an improvement it made.

Dylan, are you seeing any compressor surge or bucking of the car at partial boost letoff on the interstate?

the only time it bucks is at slow speeds when ive got a few lbs of boost built and i let off and you can hear the valve flutter a little. No surge though, and the bucking is minimal.

one thing i did notice, spiking is a lot more prominent now. but if you are in a low gear accelerating hard, it only spikes for a spilt second, but say in 5th at 70 mph i floor it it will spike to 22-23 lbs (set at 20) and then go back to 20 lbs after a bit.

Do you recommend this mod for a stock car or light modded with no increase in boost pressure?

Mine sounds a little different. The MR valve has a quicker "psssssh" sound.

I also got mine yesterday, and the installation was easy. biggest difference I noticed was in 1st and 2nd gear I would normally go up to about 15 psi, with the MR valve, I am seeing ~19 and slowly tapers off.

I think the part is ordered from Japan, so dont think they will be in stock until the MR comes, So i would try Gruppe-S or I got mine from king of imports

One of the vendors here sells the MR BOV. I can't remember who it was though.

I wonder if the MR BOV will perform better than my 1G DSM BOV? hmmm...

That would be Cal of Gruppe-S.

I have an MR BOV and am currently running the stock boost setup. There was a very slight increase in throttle reponse and boost hit a little harder. I'm sure I'll notice more of a difference once I mess w/ the boost.
