DTC P0122: Throttle Position Circuit Low Input

I got this code:

DTC P0122: Throttle Position Circuit Low Input
mods
bshr st4 w/ BR 440
exedy twin plate

Im in cali.... it is 65 out. raining. I was at a stop sign and laucnhed like I normally would real smooth. Then at about 4000. I floored to all the way to top of 4th and in the middle I was the CEL.

I went home and pulled the code and it says

DTC P0122: Throttle Position Circuit Low Input

I turned it off, havent driven it yet, but was wondering what would trigger this and what does it mean?

w2pac12345 Oct 19, 2004 04:31 PM

Also.... no new mods. My car hasnt had any NEW mods put on for the last 3 months or so.

w2pac12345 Oct 19, 2004 07:25 PM

reset the ECU and it hasnt come back on during a 30 mins drive just now.

What could trigger this code?

its the throttle body sensor..as for what..i have no idea...could be loose..?

Got the same code... Car hesitates now.... Put the car on a scanner..... Suppose to be a flat line during idle BUT it goes down then steady then down.... Not good!!!! OEM TPS is around $180.... Freaken EXPENSIVE!!!!!!!!!

i've got the same problem but have no idea what caused it. Anyone know how to repair this? a big problem i notice is if i push my car real hard and do a sudden stop, the car just hesitates and dies on me.

I also currently have this code. I, however, just finished installing an Apex-i avcr ebc and had to splice into my ECU's tps wire for the ebc. The ebc reads and displays throttle position perfectly fine, but when I connect my computer to the car and datalog with evoscan, evoscan says that the tps is not working and displays 0 throttle % at all times.

I have it too, and input? How to fix it?

Aman Oct 25, 2008 08:13 PM

use scanner and do tps sweep to see how the tps responds with the throttle padel or use a oscilloscope to do a manual tps sweep, if any drop or break in the voltage range from 0 to 5v .u need a tps sensor , if every thing is good then check ur tps wires for resistance . this is what i would do.. other people would have other solution to it....

ch53avitech Oct 25, 2008 08:44 PM

Wheres the TPS located?

Aman Oct 26, 2008 06:29 AM

on the throttle body

HEY ch53avitech, let me know if you need a TPS for testing, I have a few good ones sitting around here. I'm kinda local but will be at Ft Bragg over the long holiday weekend coming up. I had a similar problem where there was a dead spot in the low to mid range on mine. Replaced the TPS on the back of the throttle body and all is well. PM me if I can help anyone.

Bringing this up to date. Recently acquired an 03 and it keeps getting this code. I did a sweep with scanner running and it works up to 100% but off the gas it stopped at 12.5%. I checked the throttle cable and loosening it did nothing. I rotated the tps and got it to go to 2.7% off the gas but it was maxed out and would not go any lower. The code keeps coming back immediately after clearing it. I also unplugged it and sprayed some electromotive cleaner on it and it still gives the code. Is any further testing necessary or should I just get another one?

i just bought a car that has this code as well. It sounds like i just have to replace the sensor. Do any of you guys have weird afr readings from it as well? my idle afrs will be in the 11s or 10s but when i cruise at high way speeds it stays fine at 14.7ish. wot is fine as well. i'm sure it's just the sensor. at first i though it could be my front o2 sensor. but now i'm leaning towards this.

bump for this code... will have to check if it's actually bad or something happened w/ the battery disconnecting and reconnecting...
