Can the HKS EIDS be used with NON-HKS bov's?
Was wondering..
Can the HKS EIDS unit be used with other BOV's that VTA, instead of the HKS SSQ? I was thinking of getting the TURBO-XS RFL BOV since its loud, however it only vents to atmosphere. So I was thinking if it would be possible to run the HKS EIDS with the TurboXS bov? What do you guys think? |
supposedly the turboxs valve leaks at 20 and above psi. silver8evo did a study on most of the common used BOVs today. The EIDS works to smooth out the idle under rich conditions offset by the bov VTA. I mean it isnt like there is an electical connection that goes to the BOV so that the EIDS knows that it is HKS. it will work with any VTA bov.

Direct quote from HKS' website...
"The HKS EIDS has been developed to buffer dramatic airflow meter signal fluctuations. By buffering these fluctuations the EIDS prevents engine stalling or stumbling associated with sudden imbalances in air/fuel ratio of airflow meter-equipped vehicles that utilize atmosphere venting blow-off valves." So, yes. it would work....but do you really want that BOV? Get something that won't leak. |
Jarod has EIDS.

I was using HKS EIDS with my hks ssqv set-up and no stalling at all.
It solved the problem however the idling was still rough and some fluttering as well... |
