Dyno'd The Evo for the first time

Well today I had the oppurtunity to get a custom ecu tune as well as a cam install from TruboTrix. The Dyno used was a Mustang Dyno which was reading low as hell. My baseline dyno was with the following mods:
HKS 272/272 Cams
3" Turbo back Exhaust No Cat
Hallman Pro Boost Controller (20 psi)
Cone Filter
Forge Recirculating Bov
Walbro 255 Fuel Pump
Dynoflash but not flashed for cams and pump.

My Max dyno run was with the following mods:
HKS 272/272 Cams
3" Turbo back Exhaust No Cat
Hallman Pro Boost Controller (20 psi)
Cone Filter
Forge Recirculating Bov
Walbro 255 Fuel Pump
TurboTrix Dyno Tuned

I picked up 30 WHP and i picked up 20ft/lbs of torque. I was very happy with the outcome and the car feels amazing.

Sorry but what do you guys think about thses numbers on a mustang dyno. Mark from TT said it was reading low.

Ev0 1 Mar 5, 2005 05:43 PM

Those seem pretty good for a mustang dyno. There's another thread with a guy that dyno pretty low too.

MANGOOK Mar 5, 2005 05:53 PM

yea he was at the same dyno today with me.

krafty Mar 5, 2005 05:56 PM

Yeah.. other guys with just intake and TBE were getting the same if not better numbers....

Mustang dynos read low as it is. From what I understand they read about 18-20% lower than say a DynoJet. If that is the case, you car is making about 345 whp with those mods and tune figuring a 20% loss from the dyno. I'd say that is about right. Maybe a bit high, but you get the idea.

My car made 233 whp - 236 trq with just a RS intake, HKS downpipe, and HKS cat back. That put my car at around 275 whp and 280 trq. Kinda gives you a idea being EVO's average about 230-240 whp stock on a DynoJet.

Damn I wish I could see that number on the dyno sheet but hey when it comes down to my car kicking the crap out of someone at the track I can always tell them low numbers so they arent as hurt! I wanted to have a car with 330whp and I would be happy. So with the difference in dyno thats where I am about in the 320+ ? My car feels like a rocket.

The guys there said the dyno was reading really low in the morning. I dynoed mine from 1:15 - 2pm and laid down 283.9 whp and 282.4 torque with an intake, exhaust, MBC, and TT reflash. With cams yours should of been alot higher.

MANGOOK Mar 5, 2005 06:54 PM

Not to bad. They were talking about changing a mode on the dyno to give false readings. Supposedly they can make it percents higher. I dont know if thats what they did but with your mods that seems about right for you. Numbers are nothing really because my car pulls nice and hard I can guarantee i am well over 300whp. My friend has a car that dyno'd 315whp and I am definetly faster.
