How to read CEL's

This is probably a newb question.. but i was just wondering how to read the CEL's ?

i know for hondas there is a plug that if you stick a paper clip in it'll flash the CEL and the number of flashes tells you whats wrong w/ the car.. does mitsubishi have something like this?
