Throwout bearing problem
I was getting a howling noise when the clutch was halfway out on a downshift or when starting the car from a stop.
When the tech at the dealership sprayed some lubricant on the throwout bearing, the noise stop and goes away for a while until the lubricant wears off, then the noise comes back. Any suggestions or help on this? I know the throwout bearing might not be seated correctly, but this happend on the stock clutch at 2000 miles and continued from day 1 after I had my exedy twin disc and new OEM TB but in at 5000 miles. I now have 8k on the car. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. |
its probably getting wet in there.. mine did it .. but after a week it went away.. i also have a new clutch , tb, and flywheel.. so make sure the tranny vents are backwards ... and just let it dry out

this is happening for the last 6000 miles. TB has been replaced and so has the clutch. Car is garage kept, doesnt matter the weather. Thanks for the info though. Anything else?

well it could also be bad.. they may have warped it putting it in .. is it a stock tb

Brand new OEM TB when they changed the clutch.
Also had hte same noise with the TB straight off the lot from 2k - 5k (when the new clutch went in) |
well at idle it whines? what about cruising around?

No whine at idle. Only makes any kind of noise when downshifting as Im letting off the clutch.

Get it replaced again if you are annoyed by it. But usually the noise is o.k. It won't break your car. Until you start seeing bearings coming out falling on the ground! lol

not installed properly... or the snap ring that holds TB came off ,loose .or bent.(it happened to me).
