What's with the Ultimate Racing's 3"....

... test pipe. http://www.lancershop.com/customer/p...&cat=69&page=1

It says it won't throw the CEL. Does anyone know if that is true? Price isn't bad, but if it will throw the light, I would like to order a O2 sim circuit for it before I put it on. You know?

Randy Jul 2, 2005 12:31 PM

Its true, it has an angled small pipe that you fit the o2 sensor and its guaranteed, I have it on my evo as well as 4 more friends, none has check engine lights.

memo3 Jul 2, 2005 12:35 PM

Iput about 6000miles since I put it on and no check engine light what so ever.. but only thing is you have to make the wires for the 02 sensor longer so they can reach that small angled pipe..

QAT-R Jul 2, 2005 12:56 PM

Ditto, its great. No light after 20k miles. Thats a really good price BTW.

yokomo Jul 2, 2005 01:23 PM

Thanxx for the replys. Really helps in my decision. I don't want to lengthen the wires. But now I know what the angled pipe is for.

mump Jul 2, 2005 01:59 PM

you don't need to cut and length the wires. there was a write-up in here on how to do it.

RREvo Jul 2, 2005 02:25 PM

I have it on my Evo for like 6 months and no Cel its a great product . {thumbup}

marksae Jul 3, 2005 02:19 AM

Anyone got a pic of how that angled pipe for the o2 sensor? I'm curious about how that looks like.

Lowness Jul 3, 2005 02:48 AM

I have 30K miles with the UR test pipe and no CEL light to date.

Z1 Performance Jul 3, 2005 05:55 AM

because of how they do the sensor arrangement, there is no check engine light

for a paint free install, make sure you buy gaskets as well....otherwise, get out the permatex (messy)

Great test pipe, i've had mine for about 6000 miles, no cel, just put the sensor on the bung, you dont have to cut wires just pull the stock one cause you have a little bit of slack. Enough to connect it to the bung {thumbup}

EVIL_EVO_VIII Jul 4, 2005 01:21 PM

I got a cel 2 times but then it went away after resets. Happened both times i had to install it

Thegame Jul 4, 2005 01:23 PM

I just ordered one because it's supposed to be the best one out there. I was thinking of trying the spark plug antifouler trick before lengthening the wires. If that works I might as well leave it like that.

What is this small angled pipe ?

It's an O2 sensor bung on the test pipe. It basically just moves the O2 sensor out of the direct flow of exhaust gases. This fools the ECU into thinking the cat is doing it's job. the problem with this is that you need to extend your O2 wires to reach the new location on the UR test pipe. The old bung in the catback is plugged with some kind of screw.
