HKS RS Q's

Well now, I just got the HKS installed and thing is, I don't have exhaust YET. Do I still need to get the intake tune? Am I loosing HP as of now? My car seems to be more responsive on throttle but I cannot feel a difference. It's just much louder now. How much HP do people usually get for just this mod?

your probably running a bit lean with that intake and no tune. Get your ecu flashed for it. that way you will gain good hp and also be running safe.

Very little if any. You might be able to squeeze some ponys out of it if you get a tune but its not worth it to get tuned just for an intake. Intakes are good for the sound and a little better throttle responce not power.

herm, i see. I guess i'll just wait till i get my other parts in before i set out on a tune. I'll just take it easy for now.

Are you kidding? Running without a tune/flash w/ an intake is not recommended.

I did it for 10k without a single problem. Just be sure to reset your ECU.

When I installed, I lost response at low end. Basically I had to give more gas when starting from a stop. From mid to high, I felt a lil more power. However, Dsport magazine tested a bunch of HKS parts in last aprils issue. HKS RS intake gave -1 power. After tune, it gave about 10-15.

lol, i guess imma go reset my ecu and just wait a bit till my exhaust at least come so i can get my car tuned. If i borrow my friends safc and tune it, will it stay or do i really need to just keep one in the car?

My HKS rs intake made 15whp with a simple tune.....the shop owner scratched his head 'cuz he never saw an intake make that kind of power...

You are going to have to keep the SAFC in the car. It won't "stay" unless you have the car reflashed from either DynoFlash or Turbo Trix.
