272's or 20g?
I would like my next power mod to be a substaintial increase without breaking the bank so I'm considering one of these as an option. Can anyone give me your opinion on which to go with? Eventually I would like to have both but I'm thinking if I went with the 20g, I would most likely need to upgrade the I/C and associated piping. Please chime in if you have any thoughts or opinions.

Get the turbo, more efficent for ny specific boost level resulting in lower IATs and a better ability to hold boost. Cams are great and all but it does not change anything about the stupid spikey hot air blowing 16G.

Sorry but I had to    . It sounded personal  |
screw MM racing...for <500 bucks (GSC/Buddy Club) brand new, cams are the way to go. 30-40 whp throughout the powerband...and have been repeatedly proven, something the 20g has yet to do in independent testing.
|
i would go cams, your turbos only makes a little less cfm than a standard 20g.
|
Yeah great cams give you 30-40 whp. Then what. Turno up the boost on the turbo and you get more gains. If you want a purely street driven mod go with the cams. You want a track mod go with the turbo. Lots of 4G63's have run 11's on stock cams.

a little over 400 bucks and more power than a 20g? Sounds like the better mod to me... |
I have both,be it 264 on the intake side. You should really do the cams first to realize the stock turbos potential. I would do everything you can around the stock turbo and once you max out the stock turbo look to upgrading.
|
I would do cams first. I got 272/272 setup and above 6000 rpm it almost feels like a second turbo kicks in, you'll love it.
