Philly EVO's 20g-9 results.....
Well here you guys go. We finally had the chance to tune another car with our 20G-9 on it and all I can say is I'm impressed with the results.
It is rare that we get a car to make 300 whp on our dyno on pump gas. Rare. As you can see below this one did it pretty easily. The car came in with a blown engine. We put our stroker shortblock in it, upgraded the spring/retainers and did a valve job (no port work), stock intake manifold, stock throttle body, deluxe FMIC kit, 93 octane fuel and HKS 272 cams. The car is a freaking beast on the street. My brother and I took it out to verify the tune after taking it off the dyno and were both laughing at how hard the car pulls. Very fun. On race gas the gains were nuts. 365 whp and 375 ft lbs of torque. C16 fuel, manual boost controller hitting a peak of 28 psi and falling down to 22 psi. I didn't take it on the street with the race gas tune in it. I should have as it has to be unreal as the pump gas tune was pretty incredible. Enjoy the sheet. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...PhillyEvo1.jpg David Buschur www.buschurracing.com |
Congrats! Awsome numbers!
I bet Chris can't wait till the track opens. Enjoy it!! |
For comparison sakes, my car made 347 whp and 348 ft lbs on pump gas BUT had the 280 cams, ported intake manifold, 65 mm throttle body, race FMIC, ported cylinder head and 94 octane. My car was also able to run quite a bit more timing than Chris's car. So about a 30 whp difference on pump gas but I feel most of that was in the tune as I ran quite a bit less timing and boost with his car than I did my own. His peak boost was 20-21 on pump gas.
Also to compare the race gas tune. My car with the same combination as above and C16 with the boost going to 28 psi same as his, I made 386 hp and 393 ft lbs. This is not much difference in power from his car to mine when both were on race gas. About 20 whp and 20 ft lbs. Chris's car is smooth as hell, the torque is pretty nuts as in 1st gear traction is rough, even on just the pump gas. We never launch a customers car in case you are wondering. Just rolling into the throttle in 1st gear the car will spin the tires fairly hard. Nice stuff. David Buschur www.buschurracing.com |
Awesome!! Hey Dave what kind of 1/4 mile time and trap speed would you expect for this car on pump gas and on race gas??
|
What were the numbers all pump?
|
This car is 100% full weight from what I can tell. Not sure what to expect from it. I'd say even at it's weight on pump gas it should run in the 11's with a good driver behind the wheel. We ran 11.76 at 116 mph on the stock turbo and 94 octane and the car wasn't nearly as strong as this. Guess we'll have to wait and see. On race gas the car should for sure run low 11's (under 11.50's) given a good driver and some traction.

I really want to see what this turbo does for someone on a before and after for stock 03-04 turbo car to a 20g-9 and 10.5 hotside on 93 pump gas on the same dyno with no other changes, stock motor and less then 280 cams.

Dave, what is the ball park cost on this work? Just curious...

Everyone wants to see a different combination..........I can only test what we have come through. Bottom line is anyone adding a turbo to a car with less than Stage 4 on it is spending money foolishly in my book. If you only had 264 cams and called us for a turbo kit more than likely we'd suggest you get a larger cam set first as it would add more power for less money.
Philly, how long was it from the time you dropped off your car in pieces until today when it was finished? David Buschur www.buschurracing.com |
It will be interesting to see what the turbo does on alky. I would assume the numbers would be fairly close to the race fuel numbers.
What does a stock turbo+alky put down on your dyno? btw, was this on stock ecu or aem or...? |

David Buschur www.buschurracing.com Please clarify because that is what it sounds like you just said. Of course, I am still waiting on a stock 03-04-05 motor with this turbo upgrade. While these numbers are great, it still doesnt tell us much because this motor has a friggin 2.3 stroker kit on it. Oh well, time will tell. Nathan |
