Tried everything and still can't launch
 

Before we go any further, please don't critized me for not having read or search, I have done search for days and I even posted helping on this issue over a year ago here at evolutionm and also at evolutionmr.net

Lets see my problem. I can't launch the Evo 9 at all, it boogs down ALL THE TIMES,

I have a ECU flashed by Al, I told him to remove my rev 5 k rev limiter
I unplugged the rev limiter switch located behing the fuse/realy box
I had disconnect the negative battery terminal
I had tried launching it in all RPMS
I had tried rolling the car, then stop and engage first
I had tried rolling the car in first then launch

Please, what else can I do?, I read all the topics/link and sublinks related to this issue, I am not a freaking noobie on this car either. What is going on?

Is there any other way to not bog down?. Could someone explain that to me, maybe the Evo 9 needs a different method. I haven't been at the track for the last month because I haven't been able to figure it out.

We are (Evo9girl and I) so frustrated that we are actually sad about this whole issue. My Evo 8 launches well, perhaps you have to watch out to stop wheel spin.

Thanks for your help in adavance and by all means I am sorry if I am bringing this issue again but I found no solution.

Get a clutch and learn how to let the tires spin.

Can't afford that, car has 3100 miles and drives fine. Any Evo 9 drivers with similar experience?

are you trying to peel out or get a good launch? Probably need to slip the clutch more...im sure once you get the spots its easy

It always does this:

It jumps as if you were launching hard then all the sudden the tires grab for about one foot then the car completly dies, the engine rpms drops, the front end bounces down and it takes another 1.5 seconds to start building boost again.

At this point you can almost achieve similar or better results if you start really slow and then gun it, at least it build up boost fast and it does not bog down.

The clutch odor is very strong each time I tried something.. I am hating this problem

launching the evo is pretty easy.

This is the easiest way to learn to launch, but might eat away at ur clutch a lot faster.
1)Find the let off point of your clutch. (stop the car with clutch in, proceed to ease your foot off until you feel teh car begin to move)
2)Now hold the clutch in enough so your car wont move
3)Rev the car to 5.5k-6k(while your foot is still on the clutch)
4)Slowly get off the clutch (assuming that you had it near the top to begin with)

When done right you will slip the clutch slightly and the car will take off like a missle.

This approach will burn clutch fast if you dont do everything fast, but seems to be the easiest way to learn.

You describe the launch method to the perfection, I do that on my Evo 8 and never had issues. My launches are excellent and I hardly bog down ever.
On the other hand the 9 is acting ridiculously undriveable.

I guess that if you play you pay and I am going to have to do it the hard way, getting that sweet spot at any cost.

is your 9 stock? if it is leave the stock "launch control" on, hold the car at 5k or 5.5k (what ever it is set to) This way you are building almost 10 psi off the line, then launch the same way you would with an 8. Ive seen it done many many times.

Changing the subject, I have seen someone saying that I need to disconnect the negative terminal of the battery. Do I ?

I think the MIVEC is whats giving ya problems.... shoulda kept da 8'

never had this problem but seems to me you know how to launch so it may not be driver issue.. there might be something wrong with your car?

there has gotta be something wrong with your car. It seems you can launch as ur times with the 8 are in line with what they should be for stock turbo. The 9 should launch easier due to the quicker spooling turbo and faster onset of torque.

get a dynoflash and then you can launch... all you do is put it in gear clutch in floor it.. when you want to launch you lift the clutch and you're gone... it's basically launching for dummies

launching is bad for the clutch i have 30k miles with multiple launches and my clutch is still goin ooo ****
