humming noise? the evo makes lots of noises, its a loud car

jrsimon27 Apr 3, 2006 07:22 PM

so is it normal??

alloyic_rs Apr 3, 2006 07:27 PM

im not really sure but every car's different, if you think this noise is getting louder and more annoying then get it checked out, but its probly normal if its not too loud.

does it make that noise when you really make a killer right turn or just a simple easy turn?

terribleone28 Apr 3, 2006 07:31 PM

could be a wheel bearing if its only on turns {thumbup}

jrsimon27 Apr 3, 2006 07:36 PM

easy turns it makes the noise

jrsimon27 Apr 3, 2006 07:47 PM

how else do i know if its a wheel bearing?

gsujeff55 Apr 3, 2006 08:10 PM

probably your muffler bearing. only turns on during right-hand turns.

no seriously,

sounds like your power steering pump running full blast. is this at full turn, like pulling into parking space or out of driveway?

Mine makes a humming noise turning right also. I don't know if it is new or has always been there. I haven't bothered checking it out yet. I will probably just wait for it to break - this makes diagnosing much easier.

If it's a wheel bearing, that's a bad idea...

I have the same problem.

Do you all just hear a humm in turns, or do you hear a hum and feel a slight vibration in the steering wheel/floorboard?

rExTuHfEr Apr 4, 2006 07:45 AM

power steering pump? been doing any donuts lately?

jrsimon27 Apr 4, 2006 05:26 PM

update i took my car to mitsu and they checked the car while i was there and nothing seems to be wrong! we moved the wheels back and forth and they had no abnormal play or movement at all!
