Hks Camshafts....272 Or 280's????

I have just installed my HKS 280 camshafts in my evo 8.
I love the idle, but miss my mid-range with the 272's. Has anyone found this out the hard way as well???

So now I have a set of HKS 272's, used for 3dyno pulls. What should I do with them. I just might end up selling them. Not sure though. If I was to sell them I deffinatly wouldnt let them go for less than 500. Should I put them back in or sell them???
I also am comtemplating on keeping my RMR cat back or switching to my Turbo XS cat back. It is the stainless one. I only paid 460.00 for it.

No one is going to buy your USED cams for 600$... i bought mine (HKS 272's) for 530 shipped.

put the 272's back in if you dont like the 280's.

500 shipped?

screw them both get 280 comp cams much better with more power.

keep the 280s and dial in the cam gears with more advance... you'll pick up your mid end some. how much i don't know, but see if you like it with the cam gears advanced.

i've heard the same thing about those cams. power comes in early or somthing. i guess they would be good for a laggy turbo. i won't drop a dime until i see more positive threads.

Since you have full sets of both 280´s and 272´s on hand why not try both staggered setups(280i/272e or 272i/280e), maybe you´ll like one of those combos...

I picked up another 28 WHP today playing with my cam gear settings. All I am willing to say is that these 280's really love the top end of the power band...really high.

Try the 280/272 combo I bet it will make some crazy #'s

Yeah, reducing overlap on the cams -2/0 can pick up a bit of low end torque and not loose anything at the top-end, probably improve idle vacuum a bit also.. I haven't tried it yet because I haven't had any adjustable cam gears on my car, but my car already makes really good midrange torque.

I think one of the tuners did some staggered cam testing like this, and they weren't able to notice a big improvement one way or the other and ended up recommending not staggering the combo.

425 shipped i paid for my 272 272 hks. not in yet and actually still on there way to my house. i guess they were used for 2000miles then his transfer case went.

In the testing that was done on my car, the +2/0 setting worked best for the HKS 280 cams. Spool was only a 100 rpm behind the 272s and power was up throughout the entire RPM range. The setting also did not lose any significant amount of power up top vs. some of the other cam settings we tried. However, we did not test a -2/0 setting.
