Vta Bov's

I'm in the market for a bov. I know i could just go with a oem 9 valve but since i'm upgrading i might as well spend the extra cash on something nice. All I need to complete my mods (for now) are a bov and fmic. I heard the greddy rs is pretty good but i don't like the sound (flamers stay away please! ha). I'm really leaning towards the Tial. Is this a good bov? Will it being vented hurt my performance? Well, will the car running rich for that second or two during shifts really hurt performance? Can someone please let me know how their car fells with a vta bov vs a re-circ bov. Is there any way to get a tune for a vta bov? Sorry for all the newbie ?'s. thnx for all the help

And here come the wolfs

VTA will make yr car idle suffer, occasionaly yr car will stall when comes to a light. Will definately go recir! unless u are planning to get EMS.

no, vta is bad if you are using a bov with a maf... therefore it must be recirculated

VTA is a big NO NO :D {thumbdwn}

recir > vta

What are all your mods? A FMIC isnt really needed until 400 whp, or long hot track days.

Q-How is it going to feel?
A- Like Crap

1) It is metered air - which means the ECU is going to miss it when its not there
2) You can stall at stops
3) Rough Idle

Whats wrong with the IX DV?

Also look at the APS, Forge, Works, or Tomei. All are nice pieces and will work correctly.

Yea like smikeEvo said, check out the aps duel vent bov...Theres a lot of threads on it and I've read mostly positive things about it...

Please do tell - what are the good parts to VTA on a metered (MAF) application?

I cannot add to the benefits list of VTA but......

I am currently running the HKS BOV and it is VTA. When i first bought my car I had taken it to AMS to get a bunch of parts installed and get flashed. They simply asked me what BOV I would like and it was installed. I had no clue about the Evo needing to be recir. but, my car runs like a champ.

There are NO stalling issues what so ever, car idles fine at EVERY light and never dies. Granted it may not be the "ideal" setups for the Evo, but telling people it won't work is silly. Here is a short vid of my car VTA, w/ no said problems. Again, I am not saying that VTA is better than recir., but it does not always bring problems. And I did not purchase the BOV for the "whoosh" sound.

so mixed results. I really want the Tial but if it's going to make my car idle like **** then that's a no go. Maybe i should install my buddies extra greddy s vented and see how my car acts. If it idles fine and doesn't die on me at lights i'm going to go for the Tial. I test drove a 05 with a vented hks and it idled and drove fine. no problems at all. thnx for everyone's responses. they really help me out. peace

There are no mixed resuls. No matter what people claim, it is bad for a MAF-based application that isn't blowthrough. These guys saying their cars run like a champ do no trace, do not track their car, and do not know the true meaning of optimum performance. Whether you see the daily symptoms or not (poor idle/stalling), it is negatively affecting the car no matter what. Additionally, THERE IS NO BENEFIT WHATSOEVER TO RUNNING VTA. Think about it...why in the WORLD would you do something that has 0 benefit whatsoever and is ASSURED of having negative affects?

The guy above said he didn't have a clue when he bought and had it installed, yet he thinks his car runs well. That's the sort of thing you just don't admit. What it means is he wasted money on something that does not benefit him in anyway WHILE ALSO causing a degradation in performance - what's worse is he can't even tell that it's a degradation...
