Thinking of buying an Evo, but worried about tranny problems. TSB's?

Hey all... reading a LOT here trying to decide if getting an Evo is the right choice for me. One big concern is I see a ton of posts/threads talking about grinding when shifting.

I have also seen a few passing mentions of TSB's for this issue, and was wondering if Mitsu is fully aware of the issue and is/has issued TSB's to make sure Evo owners can get this fixed if it happens?

I'm looking at buying a brand new Evo IX and keeping it stock... I'm tired of working on and modding cars and just want something quick with four doors, and don't want to worry about the warranty.

So if I buy a IX and my trans grinds, am I covered or what?

03 with 26,000 miles and no grinds, no launches, all good. all depends on how u drive. its like anything mechanical, u beat it, it will wear.

Not exactly. My current car had a notchy transmission, that sometimes grinds into 3rd or doesn't want to go into 3rd, from day one, new off the lot with only 3 miles on it. After 15,000 miles it's only gotten worse, but doesn't happen often enough for me to show the dealer. It's really random... as such, every time I take it in, it's "No Problem Found".

I have read and do believe some of the guys on here have this problem and did not cause it themselves with rough driving.

Again though... main point of this thread was to see if there ARE any TSB's for this especially on the '06's, and/or, to see that if my Evo remains stock, will I have a hard time getting it fixed?

Are you talking about used or new Evos? 03s got this a lot and had TSBs for the synchros, but most of those are out of warranty now. New ones do not have the TSBs, so even though they are in warranty, they don't have TSBs for such things, because they are not as common.

06s don't have anything like that for sure. If it's stock, they should fix everything no questions asked.

I beat the living snot out of my car day in and day out for a fully year making well over 450wtq and finally killed the tranny experimenting with a 75 shot and nitromethane where I was likely making over 530wtq...03 was only year with real issues and if the car is stock they are warranteed...
