The Buschur 20GLT/AMS 2.3/280's/Meth. My writeup.

I have pondered the "turbo" question for quite a while now, and they say the biggest purchase you make in your life, is your home. The biggest purchase you make on your Evo, is the Turbo. There are so many sizes, housings, clip this, scratch that, it gets too confusing. I was content with my little TME turbo on the car now, but I need a turbo to get me in the low 11's, or high 10's, and that is fine with me!!! I think this turbo will get me there.{thumbup}

Why not the GT35/37/42/66? because that is like vanilla ice cream- TOO COMMON! I am NOT knocking those turbos, but if you get down to it with me, I DO NOT plan on doing a 100-180MPH pulls with Hyabusas on the highway. Dangerous, and I don't want the extra wear on my drivetrain parts, which will cause something else to fail.:crap: My luck hasn't been the greatest of late.:lol: :lol:

I want to have domination on the Street FROM LIGHT TO LIGHT. That is where the fun is, or this turbo will even be GREAT on autox's, road courses, and some fast times in the drags!! I can assure you, this will be a thorough REVIEW, and will have a TUNE THIS TIME also.{thumbup} At the Winged Warrior III event, there will be so many "flavors" of evo setups, that we will be able to see where I stack up in the field, as far as drags/autox go. Same day, same track, same weather conditions for all of us. I am not the best drag racer, nor autox'er, but I think this setup will do great for what I wan't to use it for!! I will keep you posted, and shoot strait from the hip, if you have any questions.

hey smoked, talk to dave before doing this. i basically have the same setup as you, and had 4 turbos tested back to back. one of them was the 20gLT. i ended up going with the 3065r. i will have dyno sheets next week.

^+^+^+ 1. Sound advice. You should go either 3065 or the new version FP 35R. Either one of these two on your 2.3-litre motor should behave much like the 20G-LT does on a 2-litre displacement engine. Consult with Jarrod before diving in.

havent heard too many ppl with a 3065r.. that should suffice for you kevin! maybe even a 50 trim.. those make great power.. im sure whatever you go with you will achieve your goal!!{thumbup}

I will contact them first, but this is looking like the one. I just don't want the 50 trim/GT35 or GT37. I don't want to be the dyno-king. Just want the low-end torque/flatten your eyeball acceleration once the light goes Green. I drink too much coffee, and don't want to wait for the boost to build up, I WANT IT NOW!!:lol: :lol: Are there comparative graphs between this turbo and the 3065/3076/78's? Is the difference in the graphs that dramatically different? I am not sure, haven't see them side by side. Thanks guys for the tips! I really appreciate it.{thumbup}

Shaun is right. I am going to need to know what cams you have and what head work before I suggest the Green for you.

evocanival Jan 29, 2007 07:12 PM

good luck with ur choice, either way u go, u'll have a fast car

WrX Kila Jan 29, 2007 07:20 PM

I am thinking with the 2.3 bottom end you should get a turbo bigger then the 20glt.

HKS 280's and stock head. Would you suggest a different setup?

smokedmustang Jan 29, 2007 07:43 PM

Thanks Chase for the graphs!

Maybe the fact that I was never in another evo with an other than stock turbo, is making this more difficult. I hear about the "Kick" of the larger (GT35) turbo when the boost/rpm's rise, and the lag associated while the kick is coming, and how it throws you back in the seat, etc... That is cool, but I want my NUTS to get KICKED right out of he gate!:lol: We will see Daves best recommended snail for my setup.:beer: {thumbup}

boostinjuice Jan 29, 2007 07:47 PM

i understand completely...

you dont feel like reading a book while waiting for the boost to kick in!..

you want to start hitting full boost at 2k rpm.. its all understandable:lol: :lol:

boostinjuice Jan 29, 2007 07:51 PM

just noticed this... dont know if you saw this

:lol: :lol: And every time I look at a dyno graph, I can't follow the lines........makes me click over to play lineryder for an hour or 3. :lol: It doesn't give me a "seat of the pants" assesment of the turbo. Maybe thats why some switch from one turbo back to the other one, etc... It is late, I am old, time to pull my teeth out, rip the toupee off, and sleep on it.:lol: :lol: Thanks for the input guys.{thumbup}
