apex'i vs arc or others intake comparison

Had an apex'i on my VIII and really enjoyed it and the sound obviously, how does this compare to the ARC and HKS although we all now the HKS filter sucks. What about an apex'i cone filter combined with the HKS pipes? Personally sound is just as import as gains with an intake.

im sure apexi has the best filtering...and best power (i think)

Yeah,i was also thinking of goin for this Apex'i Cone Filter with the HKS Reloaded Pipe combo & probably have the Apex'i Heat shield too but i also like to know the gain differ of the ARC box Type............. anyone??

Anyone have ideas of the HKS RS w, apex'i filter?

i have the arc intake box and its working fine. it came with the car so i have nothing to compare it to

I am also on the market for an intake.. I was reading on the "top removal" thread but I would rather get somethin "guarenteed " to work correctly not deface my stock intake then be screw'd

Tracer Feb 4, 2007 06:18 PM

Yeah I agree Recks, you don't pay this much money for a car especially as one that is engineered so well and do some shady intake job.

Recks Feb 4, 2007 08:09 PM

I was reading on bushur's intake.. Was told that a lot of other intake pipes would mess with the maf because of its design. Being that burshurs design is so simple it works... The only thing I'm scared of is that of heat soak.. Since the filter is not blockd from the engine heat..

Now the ArC intake system seems like it would work.. Reading the thread of "open intake box" people are cutting the side of tHeir box to increase flow and less turbulance now looking at the Arc design its basically that except its made that way instead of cutting the stock intake box.. Now the arc intake is a bit pricey tho...

Now I would either put an open element filter such as the turboxs filter and adapter, buschurs intake, or the Arc..

If I am incorrect in my assumption please let me know =P

a little bit off topic but what do you guys think about the apexi vs blitz?

Tracer Feb 5, 2007 03:50 PM

I believe the apex'i has about the best filtration on the market, I just wish they hard a hard pipe or something similar for it.

I have the Apexi Power intake. Posted many pictures before. I have to say that the quality is superb, however the installation is a nightmare unless you a Japanese... :D :D

Even when i had the intake untuned the car was driving like stock and i am sure that after the tunes the instake helped significantly...

Haven't installed a turbo pipr yet because i doubt that the ~300 dollars that i need will show respective gains. Other than the bling factor i won't install a turbo pipe yet as i prefer to do other things on the car with this amount of money...

Are you talking about the cone? Of apexi? Or do they have an actual intake system?

Recks Feb 5, 2007 07:37 PM

^^ nm I saw it not a bad price $139 from Gruppe-S and the box is another $139... I think I will go with the apexi system
