Exedy Twin Disk Clutch Problems

I installed my new TD about 500 miles ago, and from the start I got shuttering when engaging from a stop. Then, at about 400 miles I was being locked out of first gear when I was stopped. I bled the clutch and adjusted the pedal and this was eliminated. Now the shuttering has stopped, however the clutch makes a loud whine when I engage the clutch from a stop. I dont think this is normal, but before I take the trans back out I want to know if this was normal for other people. The one thing I was thinking was that the disks were warped, which would really tick me off because I was anal about the install with torqueing everything to spec and in order. Thanks in advance!

from what i've read here on the forums, it seems that some people get that whine when they take off from a stand still. I personally don't have it but i've heard it's normal.

I have the HD clutch and it does "whine" loud enough for me to hear it over my exhaust :) I can't gauge how bad yours is though.

Ok good, at least im not the only one. Good to hear someone else has this same noise.

sounds typical...

Mine whines as well, though not all the time. It seems to occur if the car and for that matter the clutch hasn't warmed up properly. I took it as being normal.

yep I also agree, you remember that little paper that came with the clutch that says

"This clutch is loud as hell, it may make a little more noise than the stock one but is considered acceptable in the performance industry"

That's just a few of the whine's and chatters and noises, but still I love my clutch...

thats normal when its pressed it... and when you shift slow youll hear it spin as youre pressing the clutch in, kinda like a roar

cheers
