Help!!! i can't boost past 18lbs of boost.

Like the title says, i can't boost past 18 lbs of boost:(. i thought it was my boost controller, but i just bought a brand new hallman and it still won't boost past 18. i checked for boost leak or any loose hoses, but can't seem to find any. could it be my wastegate or turbo?.. someone please help.

did you take out the restrictor pill? its inside one of the hoses that you hooked to you hallman. Its a small brass pill that really reduces the flow through the vac line.....

You may have the boost lines on backward on the Hallman.

there is no pill on the boost lines i got with the hallman. my boost line that goes to the wastegate is the one pointing downward and the other one goes into the turbo nipple. is this correct? any other suggestions why i can't boost past 18?

what are your mods?

bluebyu36 Apr 20, 2007 01:22 PM

no if the boost lines were backwards you would over boost,or at leat thats what happened to me..

AF-Evo8 Apr 20, 2007 01:23 PM

do you have a stock or upgraded wastegate acuator?

kayyoevo8 Apr 20, 2007 01:27 PM

i have a stock wastegate. is there a certain way you are suppose to adjust the wastegate arm?.. if so, how are you supposed to adjust it?

teamgokou Apr 20, 2007 01:38 PM

stock wastegate should be fine.

Your problem is that the wastegate actuator is seeing too much boost, causing it to open too early. We need more info...

Are you getting your boost source from the turbo nipple or the diverter valve or even somewhere else? Nevermind, I read the post. You say Turbo nipple.

Did you use brand new lines for all of the lines connected to the MBC?

To rule out your WGA, you can do a test as described in the service manual. Basically you keep pumping air in the hose connected to it and see when it starts to open. Usually the problem with Wast Gate Actuators is that it does not open at all. This causes you to boost crazy high. It happened to me. That's definately not the problem. I'd say the problem is in the install or the lines. You said it yourself that it can't be the MBC. Hallman's are the best BC's and do not have trouble like some other brands. Cough Forge Cough! Although, now that I think about it, make sure the MBC nipple with the bleeder hole in it goes to the wastegate and make sure it's not on there too tight. Also make sure the bleeder hole is clean. This is the nipple on the side of the MBC. The part directly underneath the boost control knob, pointing down goes to your boost source. IE turbo outlet, BOV, etc. I think you have them backwards.

bluebyu36 Apr 20, 2007 01:47 PM

i doubt there backwards

kayyoevo8 Apr 20, 2007 02:05 PM

they are not backwards. i double checked the installation intructions. well, when i went to dyno tune my car, they said my boost was creeping up very slow, and it won't go past 18. they suggested i get a new boost controller, so i did. i dont know what else i can check on.

bluebyu36 Apr 20, 2007 02:21 PM

what happens if you by pass the boost controler ,run a union on the vacum lines and see what boost you get....

Part of your problem might be that the hose from the compressor outlet nipple(boost reference source) should be routed to the bottom port on your MBC, while the hose from the WG actuator nipple should be routed to the side port on your MBC. You´ve got your nipples mixed up:o

bluebyu36 Apr 20, 2007 06:52 PM

wouldn't the car over boost then?
