Getting Tranny Rebuild What's The Best Gearing?

Keep the IX first gear.

Keep the IX second gear.

Evo VIII 3rd

Evo VIII 4th

Evo 8 fifth.

Should I get all the gears double synchro?

My car is currently stuck in 4th gear. That already tells me my 3-4 shift fork is screwed.

What do you guys think I should go with?

SlowSportSedan Nov 8, 2007 10:03 PM

evo ix 1-2-5

evo viii 3-4

ya dont need to worry about all the treatments unless u plan on making more than 500 or power shift car alot... aka drag racing...

SlowSportSedan Nov 8, 2007 10:04 PM

stick with shep btw... my tuner has had his tranny for 15k and i've had mine for 20k and a few other people i know very well are all very satisfied.

Good luck!

I drag race a little bit to much so I'm really considering getting all my synchro's doubled.

Good luck!

I will have Devo Tuning rebuild my trans.

There giving me a good price as far as labor and parts go. {thumbup}

then just stick with that gear setup... itll give you an extra few mph in 4th and make the shift to 5th a little easier on the parts...

I have the 4.11 gearing and love it. Havnt launched it yet due to just getting it back a week ago but ill see how that works out.

4.11's are way to expensive!

I for one absolutely hate the EVO9 4th gear. Reaching for 5th at lapping days is horrible. I'm over powering my stock clutch and looking to do both the tranny and clutch at the same time.

Do you guys really think the EVO 8 3rd gear is worth the associated cost? On average each gear change costs $200. I definately see the need for the EVO8 4th gear but can't decide on the 3rd.

I believe Devo can give you a sick price on VIII gearing.

But you want to keep your IX first gear.

Devo???

I know of Shep, TRE, and Buschur.

Who else is building EVO trannies?

Devo Tuning Adam will be doing the rebuild. BTW if you haven't heard of Adam he use to be a mechanic at AMS.

He's getting the parts from Shep.

Jeff_Jeske Nov 13, 2007 04:37 PM

What is this operation costing you?

robertrinaustin Nov 13, 2007 04:51 PM

Buschur offers their Buschwacker transmission upgrade for $850.

I would think twice before going to TRE, on the other hand i read many people happy with shep.
