What's Next After You Outrun Your Walbro Drop-In??
For those in the 550-650 whp range, what are you doing for fuel? Twin in tank setup? Inline Walbro? What are most of you doing once the drop-in walbro is no longer enough?

i am getting a c16 tune this spring and i think i'm just going to go with the ams antisurge tank. seems like an easy solution.

??? i would like to know this as i will move to a built 2.0 with a nasty head and possibly a 40r or a 67mm..
i am currently on a walbro 880's and meth and dont run out of fuel yet. |
I plan on doing the BR twin walbro setup when I get to that point. I might do a Kenne Bell Boost-a-pump instead though, that's working great for my Stealth. I log fuel pressure vs boost to make sure it's rising 1:1 as it should be.
on my stealth I was good to ~ 22psi on the twin 16g turbos ~ 550awhp but as I raised boost I started leaning out. I cranked the voltage to the walbro to 17v or so and it was fine up to 35psi so far. (~ 650-700awhp) |
good info..
I plan on havin a built 2.0 and a jam head with my 35r or a upgrade to a 37r Should i just go ahead and do 1000cc's and a twin in tank or what? |
Are Twin pumps a must for 1000cc's?

no, the injector size doesn't determine how many pumps you need, it's the horsepower that's going to be made. There's plenty of people on a single walbro with 1000cc injectors but they aren't making enough horsepower to run out of fuel. |

An inline Bosch 044 plus the intake Walbro does fine for my car... probably making around 700 hp with GT35R w/RC1000cc injectors. What I like about an all inline versus parallel system is if one pump fails, you will basically get fuel cut and not go anywhere. Where as I have concerns about a parallel system... seems to me you would go dangerously lean up top.

I don't know much about the BR twin in tank setup, but the website pic looks like the secondary pump is boost activated. In other words, one pump in online all the time, and the secondary kicks on when a certain boost is reached. Would there not be backflow through the pump that isn't online at cruise?.

this is a good read http://buschurforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18244

I am using the Fullblown twin pump assembly, it is a very nice piece and works well. I run twin pumps 100% of the time with -8 Feed & -6 Return, I have an Aeromotive regulator and the car runs with about 45 PSI at idle. I really like this set up as it simplified my original plans to run an external A1000 from a surge tank that the in tank was going to feed. It presented to many places to leak, and I wasn't too happy about running pressurized fuel lines inside of the car! So if you need 2 pumps (500+ WHP) then check out the Fullblown unit...
As a side note.... Fullblown please chime in,.... I want to modify the return of the unit to larger than 1/4 preferably 3/8" or larger, but I would need a new suction manifold to make it work. Has anyone modded this portion of the unit and had success transfering fuel from the other side of the tank? |
Its OK Kid, you're a Mellon!!! Sorry bro, I've been holding that back for a LONG time.
The link doesn't seem to work, it might just be Firefox.... Buschur stated that his 2nd pump setup is boost activated via a switch....most of the twin pumpers are. The FullBlown two pump setup is nice, and if you wanted something extreme, you could use that system.... I personally like when my pumps are in the tank, completely and not in line outside the tank. Just my preference. |
