More Power and Torque for OKIX's 20G-LT..
I'll make this brief here and continue with the cam comparison in the evaluation thread.
First I have to say thanks to David Buschur for turning over his dyno to me for today and tomorrow. Without going into too many specifics, the OKIX car previously made 481wtq and 425 whp (without smoothing averages) and 478wtq/422whp with smoothing. Today, after a slow start to getting myself going, the car improved the dyno maps, even with 100% humidity and 40 degrees outside. The new base numbers were 483 wtq/ 432 whp and with smoothing 478wtq and 430 whp. On the surface it appears they're the same, and they actually should be since we're using the same tune as he ran the 10.87 at 127.8 last month. Difference is, new power (about 18-25 above 5500 rpms) is found with the same basic tune (actually a little richer, even though at leaner AFR, it made better power) but the AVERAGE above 5500 is apparent. Probably on the track from 5800-8000 we're going to average 25+whp and about the same wtq. This is with nothing changed but very very minor changes to AFR (richer, less power) and a ported head with stainless steel stock size valves. Head was specifically ported to maintain good velocity of air for street use. I think the dyno proves that the Buschur head, (Ted Head), is doing exactly what we were hoping for. Nothing has been changed but the head porting. This is NOT the Stage III head, same surface and flow appearance, but not quite opened up as much. PERFECT for the street. I made about 9 -10 pulls today doing the final tweaks. I don't make very many changes at a time and try to concentrate on one thing at a time. A vacuum hose blew off twice, so some of the pulls were either aborted or not good comparisons. Ok, here's the before Norwalk dyno plot, placed over todays. Obviously, the tune is the same, but timing HAD to be pulled a little, due to forged pistons creating a little knock.
Todays dyno is the dashes and last months are solid lines. I started the pull a little later than David did, so the early curve difference is due to that. Enjoy.
