HKS DLI II Issues????

So I have really wanted an HKS DLI II Twin Fire ignition upgrade for my Evolution. From what I understand it doesn't INCREASE the voltage per say but it actually works as a capacitor storing more energy for the OEM coils to draw off more power as the RPMS increase keeping the voltage constant when things get hairy.

Now I am hearing that not only these things crap out on people (I know of two in my immediate area) but actually cause misfires and sputters when a simple removal would get your Evo back in perfect working order.

Any info for or against what I posted above? I just found one and I wana buy it cuz U heard they help spool up, better plug life, and possible a slight WHP gain not to mention handle larger turbos or a METH addition. Some "VENDER'S" swear by them but now I am unsure.

Any solid info?:confused:

Thank You:mitsu: {thumbup} :beer: :usflag:

Well I don't no much about problems with the HKS DLI II but isn't it almost the same thing as the Sun Automobile Hyper Force?I just got the Sun Auto Hyper Force and have noticed that the voltage is a lot more stable as well as having improved idle.I haven't heard of any problems with the Sun Auto unit.You may want to look into one of those especially because it costs less than the HKS DLI II.Hope that helps.

I have had the HKS DLI II Twin Fire ignition in my car for nearly 2 years, and no problems so far.
I am happy with my HKS box.

Plug and Play. 10 minutes to install. May be a tune afterwards.

I am guessing it is like anything else, you can ask 1000 people and someone will have had a bad experience with it. I just bought one but haven't installed it yet. I've fabbed up a custom bracket to hold it between the stock battery and fuse block in the engine compartment. I will be following this thread now. Look forward to hearing from everyone who is or has run this ignition amplifier.

check out our Pro-system. We use the M & W Pro-12 and they are very reliable. We also sponsor the World Record holder 1079whp@46psi (Paul Nelson owner and built by Lucas English) and he uses our Pro-system with Pro-12.

I had one for a couple of years but starting having problems with it after detailing the engine bay in preparation for a visit to the DSM/EVO Shootout in Wakeman. The problems began with losing a cylinder, like a wire had come loose or something. Eventually it burned up a coil pack. Apparently the problem was caused by water getting in the plug & play wiring harness.

It was out of warranty when I finally discovered the problem so I ended up with a $500 paperweight. Moral of story: Don"t wash down your engine bay with an HKS DLI II in it!

I've been using the HKS DLI II on two other vehicles that I own for years with out any problems... I guess like any product in the market, there are always a couple bad units...

I've had my HKS DLI II for over a year now; I use methanol and boost 27psi with no problems. Like stated above, If you ask so many people who have or had this unit, you will hear a handful of bad experiences.

I wish you could make a model that's more affordable for people running less than 800whp{thumbup}

We are working on a Plug and Play Coil on plug unit that won't utilize the cdi box and will be more affordable{thumbup}

i look at it like this..if it is not broke then dont fix it..jmho

i really dont think you need it unless you are packing some big #"s

Please do a comparison against HKS DLI, Sun Hyper Force and OKADA plasma...so people would know the difference.{thumbup}

I've had the HKS DLI on my car now for over year and had zero problems. If you get the unit wet you will have problems with it.

Sean Ivey uses it with the stock coils on his 9.8@153 EVO and has had zero problems with it. He highly recommended it to me.
