p0106 problem... I've searched

heres the story, yesterday I installed my prosport boost gauge... I tee'd it off originally into my fpr vacuum line and noticed when driving to work my SES light came on... buddy came over after work with his code scanner and we got two P0106 map/bar press sensor codes. (we clear them, but they come back)

Now I'm wondering what could be causing this, its now tee'd into the bov's line, I've unplugged the map sensor and checked/cleaned connections. I've yet to take a multimeter to it. BUT anyone have any idea what could have caused this?

Thanks!

anybody, would be appreciated!

did you put it back to stock, no boost guage installed at all. Disconnect battery and see if it comes back on?

naudlee Apr 17, 2008 07:02 PM

yes, and still present.

ttt, anyone know if this cel will affect driveability or performance?

goBYeBYe Apr 18, 2008 10:51 AM

there is probably some other hose that was removed and never put back. make sure that the fpr hoses are nice and tight and no leak.

naudlee Apr 18, 2008 12:31 PM

the fpr hoses are tight plus ziptied... Would some kind of vacuum leak at all cause this code to be thrown? Cause there is no surging or high idle whatsoever, what is usually associated with a vacuum leak of sorts. THis has me puzzled and is quite annoying to have a SES light for such a simple mod.

Hope you got the problem fixed. I don't think it'll cause any loss of performance just b/c of the CEL light unless CEL light is on due to other issue that could cause boost leak somewhere when you install your gauge.

I still cant fathom what would trigger a map sensor related code, yes its a boost gauge and its tapped into a vacuum source, BUT why would it throw a map sensor code? I have build many many many turbo hondas and still own one, I'm new to the Evo, and dont see how it could cause this code? Nobody has ever had such a problem?

most likly causes are

sensor failed
harness or connector damage
ecm failed

you already checked the connectors..so you might want to swap sensors with someone clear the code and see if it comes back.

yeah I read up on the code... When I have some free time I will check the continuity of the sensors plugs, and that should tell me something... anyone know voltage specs? and any other opinions/insight
