So for hose who are wondering what the differences are between 272's and 280's here you go:

1st I have an Evo 8 MR with Brian Crower 272 cams. Just for those out there that want great midrange and pretty good top end. Get them for the money. They are awesome cams and are perform amazing. :thumbup: :thumbup:

I will include some DLL (Data Log Lab) power graphs for you.

2nd I now have a 9 turbo and did a run on pump gas w/ the Brian Crower 272's.
Now on the 9 turbo I gained 14awhp w/272 Brian Crowers cams over the 8 turbo w/272 Brian Crowers cams on pump gas.{thumbup} {thumbup}

3rd I went with the Comp 280 cams.
Ok now this is where it gets awesome. Don't you ever think to yourself that it would be awesome to drive around all the time on race gas. Well here you go I had an Evo 8 MR turbo with Brian Crower 272 cams on Race gas. Then I got the Evo 9 turbo and the Comp 280 cams without race gas and D@MN!!! See for yourself:

Did you do the valvetrain upgrade as well?

No still on the stock clutch, 45000 miles on it and its time to put in the twin plate.

Yes and no.

The difference in this case is between BC 272s and CC 280s with your particular setup, not between '272s' and '280s' as if they were all the same. Some manufacturers' 272s are effectively larger and better performers than others 280s. And as for the BC 272s and CC 280s, they are timed very differently as well, which is another factor.

This is why cam's cannot be compared on the basis of advertised duration (e.g. 272 and 280), unless they are from the same manufacturer.

FYI

+1 , which is why jun 264's are almost comparable with some other makers 280's.

Sorry guys, no I still have the stock spring and retainers. I dropped my rev. limiter to 7800rpm. I'm going to change the springs and retainers later but not right now. The stock valvetrain with the Comp 280 cams it puts down good power. It would be better if you get the springs and retainers but you don't need them.

Yes I still have the Stock cam gears.

No I will not be down there b/c I have to put my new clutch in soon. My clutch is finally going out after 45000 miles on it and a lot of racing.
