We can put mag wheeled EVO9 turbos together and use the TiAl turbine wheels even. The problem is that the mag wheels explode and the Ti turbines had a tendency to pop their heads off, neither of which MHI sees as warrantable issues.
They made the 1570 turbo, it had tons of failures. It was replaced with the 1571 turbo which was also a mag/Ti combo, but it fared only slightly better than the 1570. We have lots of the regular 1580 EVO9 turbo, which is what comes on the US market RS, guive us a call if you need one. BOOST ON! Robert Young |
Thanks for the reply Robert.
Yeah i'm familiar with teh issues related to the '070' model. This was all sorted on the '071' model which is also referred to as Version 3 9RS turbo. The other reason i'm chasing this one is from all reports it has a 1mm larger exducer on the compressor side, hence the ~10-15wkw difference in power it achieves... Can you confirm this? Or is the '080' model just as good? Cheers. |
The 71 turbo WILL make 10-15 whp more than the 80, and will spool couple of hundred rpms lower. This is a great turbo, just don't go with aggressive ALS or boosted to more than 25 psi.
