Kelford 280's Idle

Hi guys thought I'd post this since a few people in the states are running our nz made cams now, I run the kelford 280's had them in for a year now.

There's a video on you tube that I did if you want to hear them at idle but I can't get the link for it as I'm at work lol.(can't access youtube)

If you search "evo 6 idle, GT35R, 280's" etc you should be able to find it.

It's an evo 6 with carbon fibre bonnet

sounds good!

FILTH Jul 3, 2008 02:14 PM

forgot to mention they are the solid type cam as I'm running solid lifters

MuslimEvoFreak Jul 3, 2008 02:22 PM

Can these be used in the 8's? If so what type of power gains?

FILTH Jul 3, 2008 02:27 PM

yes, take a look at the ams cam test for power gains on kelford 272's, these being 280's you would lose a little more bottem end but gain alot more up top.

But If you want to run the solid type cam you'll have to change to solid lifters

MuslimEvoFreak Jul 3, 2008 02:44 PM

What is the benefit of a solid type cam with solid lifters?

FILTH Jul 3, 2008 02:53 PM

copied from a v8 website

Mechanical lifters are commonly called solids; although they have oil-feed orifices, they are one-piece units. The benefits of solid lifters include exceptional rpm potential for engines designed to operate at high speed. To allow for expansion during engine warm-up (and because of mechanical camshaft design), solid lifters must maintain valve clearance to operate properly and require frequent lash adjustments.

In my opinion stick with the hydraulic type as the gains ain't worth changing to a solid type

^^ Ahhh alright thank you

bonnet = hood. I miss these phrases. Loving the sound.

doesn't sound good to me, just a very high idle *shrug*

I think my HKS 280's sound much better..I'll get some video with the BF 272's soon.
